Seanny, I was pleased to see the Ireland side come across. I have been to Dublin (love it
). The first time I was amazed at how busy the pubs / clubs were despite the ban. I went with 3 freinds, all of whom smoke, it was so easy to be outside with them because some of the pubs had patio heaters out! Yeah there were loads of people on the street, but no more than any other busy town centre - although the point about local pubs next to houses could be a bit of b****r - perhaps landlords should be prepared for that.. . .?
I am an ex smoker and always thought that I was a 'considerate' smoker. You know waht tho' since giving I wonder if there is such a thing. Oh, OK so you don't smoke round friends houses or blow smoke in the direction of others but do you pass it on anyway?
When you exhale do you empty lungs of the smoke inhaled? you continue to exhale smoke even after you have finished your cigarette. Even when with the friends who don't smoke you will have been smoking all day, in the car on the way (to make up for the ones you won't be able to have while you are out - done that!
) so every time you breath out while you are with them are you subjecting them to passive smoking?
I can smell it when friends arrive and I can still smell it the following day - even though they don't smoke indoors when they are here - it's on their clothes, in their hair - horrible!
As with all arguments there are two sides but from my point of view I am glad I gave up and welcome the ban - I have damaged my self enough already I do not want continue.
