Hey Geeks, I've heard a number of different answers to this one so was wondering what how long do you tell clients they will last?
I've heard up to 6 weeks before, surely they'd have came off before then and totally grown out
This is for NNO not extensions
Also when do you infill or do you soak off and pop a new colour on

I've been recommending they come back between 2-3 weeks for infills or a soak off and new colour

What does your brand recommend? Unless they are all the same :)lol:) then you should go by your experience and what the supplier recommends for the gel you are using?

I would think that after 3 weeks the nails certainly need to be re-polished with fresh colour and the length shortened wouldn't you?

Which gel are you using?

How long a set of soak off gels last depends entirely on the client themselves, it depends on their lifestyles, their jobs, if they have children or if they have cleaners etc etc...

I never tell my clients how long they would last, I never give them a time. By giving them a time-life of the nails just gives them an opportunity to complain about them if they don't last as long as you say.

Instead, I explain that they would only last as long as they would look after them. I then recommend them to book their in-fills between 2/3 weeks, because even if they didn't come off, they will still grow out.

Apparently, most soft gel companies advertise that they will last 4-6 weeks.

The thing is, most of them probably can, but like you said, they do grow, the colour does need to be re-apply and the nail needs to be maintenanced after 3 weeks.

Thats exactly what I thought but just had a client in the other day asking do my gels last 6 weeks as well cause the salon down the road said they would.

I use Akzentz as i wanted a soak off gel that was also strong enough to grow your own natural nails with and keep them long without them breaking.

I love them! Anyone else use a soak off gel they love?

I use Calgel and I recommend 3-4 week infills, Calgel say 4 weeks usually, but most people aren't as keen to leave such a big margin at the cuticle area without colour. I don't soak off if using the same or a darker colour.
If client wants a change of colour to a lighter one, obviously I'd have to soak off and charge accordingly.

I do find I sometimes have to soak off the french when using clear on the nail beds as it's notorious for yellowing and the colour difference can be seen.
