Is it true that if someone has a nut allergy, using solar oil is out of the question??? I would assume so, but would the small amount harm or not?
Or is it just best to steer clear 'just in case'?
Blimey im waffling-you all get my drift:lol:

If its a mild sensitivity then you'd probably be Ok, but some nut allergies are so sensitive that just being in the same room as a nut can be close on fatal and I personally just couldn't be responsibe for taking any risk.

My client consultation card asks them to identify any allergy, and if that was the case I would steer clear.

Personally I'm allergic to nutcases!

I would steer clear but Almonds are seeds not nuts. Everyone thinks they are nuts because that is where they are sold. But I would use something else just in case. Better to be safe than sorry. With allergies you have to be very careful even small amounts can cause a reaction. hope this helps.

I understand the 'is an Almond a nut?' debate was considered a bit of an urban hype, and the almond now officially classed as a nut.

The Allergy Site list Almond as high on the list of known nut allergens. Not worth taking any risk whichever way you look at it.

The Allergy Site on peanut allergy, information and resources

I agree, I also said I wouldn't take the risk either. I know how bad allergies can be. My husband believe it or not is allergic to onions and I am allergic to latex.

Sadly I'm allergic to CND enamels! How bad is that for a nail tech!

Sorry - off topic a wee bit. Anyway...yes agreed!

I would'nt take the risk either, i would'nt persoanlly want to be resosible, just the smell of nuts can make some people who have nut allergys become very ill, and also it can be fatal.better to be safe not sorry.xx

Hi hun,
An option to have in stock for cases of allergy is young nails rose oil. Its base is made of sunflower oil (i think ) and rose extracts instead of nut ones.
It is available from distinctive nails Young Nails throughout England and the UK

or try grapeseed oil that is what I was recommend to use if anyone had a nut allergy.

Do you have the brand Poshe' over there? They make an anit-microbial cuticle oil that is very nice and really don't have to have any worry of a reaction to it.

I have a client with a nut allergy who uses solar oil with no problems. Each individual is different. During her consultation I found this out .. she wanted to give it a go and luckily shes been fine.

My mum whose a nurse has a severe allergy to fish. When the ward meals are fishy .. the smell alone causes her to struggle to breathe. shes been sent home several times because of this.

I am the same with latex, which is not easy as that means ballons, elastic. I use grapeseed if in doubt.

I am allergic to nuts and almond but I make no reaction with OPi's cuticle oil... so yeah, give it a go...

I would be very cautious.
Allergies are tricky, and can intensify without warning. I know someone who had a reaction to his wife's skin; she used an AHA product on her face that is derived from almonds, they went to bed for the night and he awoke with breathing difficulties.
