how...................in my shoulder - they are absolutely killing me - ive tried the stetch, and the massage and also switching position at work, but nowt seems to be working - i had a lush massage on thursday but since then my shoulder is worse - and what makes it worse is its the shoulder of my NON working arm - ive tried the sitting head on with clients as i thought that was the prob - and also other geeks - but nowt is shifting it

do you think maybe a heat pad on the shoulder will help - i really cant be doing with this - its making it hard at work and find myself twisting to ease the pain

think beautyguru should play with my shoulder:hug:

I use a heat pad to relax the muscles in my neck and shoulder. Mine heats up in the microwave so I can use it through out the day. But I would go see your doctor G just to make sure its not the start of something serious.
Would hate you to ignore something thats simple to treat until it becomes hard to treat iykwim:hug:

i understand where you coming from flower - but it only started when i started work -think i will go see the doc tho - its past funny - if you look at me straight on - the left shoulder is way higher than the right one(which works more) i cant even lift left arm up over my head now to dry my hair

will try the heat pad first tho:hug:

It could be something to do with your chair.

I never had any problems until I changed my chair - it could be at the wrong height.

Can you vary the height and see if it helps.

I think, following on from your other thread, that this is beyond a joke now, and you really ought to be looking for medical advice. GO AND SEE YOUR GP! You could ask to be referred for physio, they're more expert and can get you in for x-rays and scans.

The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to put it right. Get it seen to NOW.

You poor thing, sounds awful . My Mum had frozen shoulder and it sounds very similar. We were never sure what caused hers but it was fixed with a course of physio (she'd had it before on the other side and had cortizone jabs - opted out of those this time!). I think a heat pad - the stick on ones are good - would be good in the meantime but nothing beats a TRIP TO YOUR DOCTOR!! Linds x

Glynis,

I think a trip to see the quack is in order to get to the bottom of it.

My mum (who's a merchandiser for a living) has just been diagnosed with RSI in her shoulder and had been told to stretch the muscle, she has to put her arms above her head, hands together and push to the ceiling until she feels it, ifykwim. It one of those thing, that rest helps but she has to work so doesn't really get time to rest it.

I'm not sure if you have the same, but I see how much pain mum is in with hers and can sympathies with you.

Oh, if only you lived near me, I'd get you sorted. Sounds like you need to see a remedial therapist to release your shoulders, back, pecs, neck and arms. Also a good anti-inflammatory product used a couple of times a day. I use flexall which is mentol in a aloe vera base. It's an American product which has been used for sporting injuries for 20 years. We go through it by the gallon at footy.

But if one shoulder is higher than the other you need to have all your upper body released - a proper remedial session is what you need. We do this sort of thing most nights at footy so maybe try and find someone who specialises in sports and remedial massage to unlock you - can hurt like hell but it works wonders - I get it done myself and it works wonders.

Lol, it was a bit, erm, forceful wasn't it! :o
The reason being, I have a client with similar symptoms, and it turns out that he has a bulging disc in his neck. I'm not saying that's the problem with you, Glynis, but it's best to find out exactly what's wrong as quickly as possible, then you'll know the best course of action to take. No reason to put up with it if it can be sorted!

Hiya Glynis, It sounds like your rotator cuff muscles, whats this you ask...they stop your arms from falling off!! without actually seeing you i would suggest self massage. you can do this by either lying on or leaning up against a wall using a powerball, One which is quite tough. By adding pressure to the area and you'll know when you hit the area will help release the spasm. NSAID are also advised check with your doctor first. Small pendular movements when leaning forwards may provide some relief and help to improve the shoulder movement.
Gently swing the arm forwards, backwards and sideways whilst lying on your front.
  • Gradually increase the range of motion.
  • It is important that range of motion exercises are done as early as possible.
  • Aim to reach 90 degrees of motion in any direction.
Its important that you try to regain movement as soon as possible where pain allows. if its painfull hold back.

Gentle stretches as pain allows by pulling the injured arm across your chest and applying pressure with your other this will stretch the back of your shoulder. To stretch the front of your shoulder hold your arm against a door frame and gently lean forward until you feel a gently stretch.

If your symptoms persist you need refered for examination,x

its not so bad today - ive been pulling my arm (with the othr one) abouve my head) and stretching the bugger, also at work ive gone to a lower chair - i can put up with pain - but this is just so not good - im doing nails all day- i can take "normal" pain but this is redicoulous - ive been stretching arm above my head, and pulling itwith my good arm - i feel the stretch (iykwim) which seems to ease it somewhat - but when i go to doing nails again, im back at square 1 - am going to doctors tomorrow if i can get in - its like now when i turn my neck it cracks - like crunching chicken bones - its so not a good feeling - i would have thought massage would do it - kirsty (at work) is a remedial massage therapist plus other massage - but she cant help as she has develolped rsi in her wrists and had been for cortizone jabs - not working so far - im at work late tomorra sol will book in with doc

Can you tell me a bit more about flexall? I usually use tiger balm, would flexall be more benefitcial?

Flexall is menthol in analoe vera gel formula that provides fast, long-lasting relief from arthritis, backache, bursitis, tendonitis, muscle strains and sprains, bruises, and cramps. It absorbs quickly and completely, is greaseless, non-staining, and gentle on the skin.

Flexall is versatile enough to aid in treating the acute, sub-acute, and chronic stages of injury. It delivers fast, lasting relief; offer an effective counterirritation to pain by providing a cool sensation followed by a deeper heat; and soothe and relax sore muscles by increasing local blood flow.

Basically when you rub it on it is cold but after a few minutes it's like a cool heat - i don't know how to describe it - because it's menthol it is cooling but has a warming effect as well - weird I know. Also because of the menthol it will clear your blocked nose as well.

Its been used by professional sporting teams in America for over 20 years. It's a fantastic product. I use it on myself and I find it's great.
