i made wages payout to my ex - stylist.. on her last day. however my bank said it got rejected and didnt go through so i paid her in cash into her account. i never thought about it after that.. however i went online to check my balance today and they paid her again yesterday but 10 times the amount i asked.

after constant calls this morning it turns out the person keyed it in for october not september so it wasnt 'rejected'

they paid £630 not £63.. :mad::mad:

what they have said is they will write to her to refund it..AND THATS IT!

surely this cant be the case?

has this happened to anyone before?

Surely not. If that was their mistake they should fix it.

I would have thought the bank was liable for this error

well... after another 1 hour of shouting on the phone as im now very ..

ive been told to wait for another manager to ring me..

i had to wait 2 hours for the last 'manager' to ring.

i would have thought id have to get a refund either way not 'if the other partner doesnt refund it they'l see what the nxt step is'.. i cant get a straight answer from them...

OMG how frustrating. I would be fuming!

I think you should go and see the bank manager or someone in person. They always find it easier to fob you off on the phone. Also you could play the heavily pregnant lady card, that needs her money for the baby.

Its their fault, they should fix it and not later, now.

If the bank admit responsibility by making the mistake i.e. typing the wrong amount in then they can amend the mistake automatically and should be doing so. If you have in black and white, written down, what you instructed and they made the mistake it is down to them. They should amend your account immediately and without question taking in to account any charges or interest due and they can recall the amount overpaid automatically. Stand your ground. Go into the bank and play the heavily pregnant lady as they don't like to be seen to be in the wrong in fornt of other customers, but you may have more joy if you contact the head office and demand to be told the protocol to report this indcident to the appropriate financial ombudsman.

Hi leonnib.

I would ask them wot their complaints procedure is as you want to complain. And tell them if it doesn't get sorted satisfactorily with compo ie gratuitie payment for inconvenience and to pay for wots phone calls then you will take them to the banking ombudsmam. They are sacred of them. Hopefully they will get their finger out. Hth

Write them a letter and charge them £28 for it too.

More seriously this is pretty shocking and they should sort it out right away.

banks closing now no phone call.. i didnt get anythin in writing i did it over the phone .. i always do it over the phone never thought they would make silly mistake like that..

they have admitted it was thier mistake but i stil dont know whats going on i gave them her address to write to her..

and then ive just been passed from person to person

That's awful! And flippin typical bank, never contacting you back when you need them, only when they need you. Haha jo-from-moorspa, think you've the right attitude, although £28 might be a bit cheap lmao. Seriously though, I'd go in to see them so you're not put on hold, or told to wait on a return call! Demand this is sorted out asap and give them a good earfull! Good luck!x

get in touch with the obudceman they will soon get it sorted with a solicitor threat too ive been in a similar situation but it was 1000 it took 3 weeks of me being polite then i threatened to take legal action n i had it back in 10 mins!

If it was through phonebank all the calls will be recorded.

im abit more calmer now..
looks like i have to go down in person....

it was over the phone.. there not denying it was there mistake but saying they cant just refund it like that.. i cant understand them expecting her to refund it:rolleyes: i mean really..

il go down 2moro... i dont think they'l like heavily preggers.. heavily hormonal me in there for very long... i have the patience of a bull at the moment lol...

ive only just changed to natwest too..

i like the £28 letter charge idea..

Definately walk in there, and make sure you are heard :)

I am sure they will resolve it quickly so their other customers won't hear what is going on

If you made this transaction by phone then it can be proven that they messed up when they listen to the call, which will have been recorded.

Tell them as it is their mistake they must refund you immediately from their own funds, THEN reclaim the money from your ex-employee's account. This situation is their fault not yours so why should you have to wait for your money? Let them wait for it.

ok...

ive was at natwest for approx 2 hours .

i went in and i was first told there manager want in .. no superviser blah blah

so i basically said id stay there until someone came etc... i think it took 30min before they realized i was serious....
the next hour was spent them telling me someone would call etc..
i went got my newspaper and came back lol..

when it got to 4pm the 'manager' who appeared from the back room agreed to refund it.. whoop whoop... :)

now think about it what must i looked like ... crazy preggers female..lool

but i got it sorted so basically they were fobbing me off yesterday all day...

So happy you got it sorted. It shouldn't have got that far though. As soon as they said it was their mistake they should've sorted it.
