I woke up yesterday morning and i couldn't move my arm very much, the pain is all in the top of my left arm. I thought i had slept on it funny and it would wear off, but it didnt. I cant put ANY pressure down on my hand and i can't twist it or put my arm up very high, its really painfull  driving to do the school run was excruciating, thank god i have an automatic ! I was hoping the pain would have worn off this morning but it hadn't. I took some pain killers so i could get through my clients today and that helped but its still there. I was talking to my mother in law tonight and she thinks ive got a frozen shoulder  ive looked it up on the internet and it does sound like what ive got. Im really worried because it says it can last for months or even years and it can spread to both arms ! I wouldn't be able to work !
Has anyone else ever had this ?

oh my you poor thing

its not like when you sleep funny and you cant move your neck as you've pulled or twisted something is it ?

the only reason im asking babe is that my client recommended some magnets you can get from boots, basically a little magnet on a round small plaster and you stick this to the area of pain - works a treat

if its not like that then im not helping much ! sorry:confused:

... if it is .... i have some here to save you going into town ?

hope you feel better soon babe if you need me call me x

ps not with clients though as im choca:eek:

kxx

Thanks mate, i cant pin point the pain, its all in the top of my arm. i just havnt got the same movement in it, it hurts too much  im hoping it will go away, if not ill have to pop and see doc on tues. I cant even dress myself, Gordon had to help me this morning  !
Thanks for your concern babe x

if you are still in a lot of pain tomorrow - if you ring your dr there should be an out of hours doctors number (not nhs direct number) ring the dr and hopefully you should be able to go see a dr down at gosport memorial (thats where we (whiteley) get referred to - they are brilliant there - save you waiting for hours in a&e or being in pain / discomfort longer than necessary

take care hope you feel much much better soon xx

Hi

I highly recommend Bowen Therapy. I got arthritus in my hands from rsi. three years ago I sat in bed and cried as I thought that i was about to lose everything. If I couldnt work, my business would have to go.

A friend did Bowen Therapy and she did a 2 minute movement on me and by the end of the week I was in even more pain. Then amazingly I woke up a week later and the pain was gone! I could stop taking Ibruprofen as I was no longer in pain.

I only had one treatment, although 3 years later it came back and the docs put me back on ibuprofen. When I got pregnant in August with my 3rd baby I split my pubic bone at 15 weeks and was literally bed bound. It also meant bye bye income. I moved 2 hours away from the last therapist so located a new one in my area and at 20 weeks pregnant had a treatment with her. It took about 3 treatments but my pubic pain eased and so the arthritus went too. Without her I would have been bed bound for the entire pregnancy. I have a treatment once a week as I am only going to get worse because my baby is getting bigger and putting more pressure on my bone. She couldnt come once for 3 weeks and I was bed bound again!

I really swear by it. I owe my therapist a lot. Give it a go as I am sure you will be amazed too. although it may get worse before it gets better....

Hope you feel better soon.

Kate

Whatever it is, it sounds nasty! Don't jump to conclusions about it being a frozen shoulder, it may be a trapped nerve. Try finding somewhere to have a good massage and see if that helps. If you don't know where to go, my friend is a massage therapist and she should be able to see you next week. I'd offer myself but I'm not working until Friday and the sooner you can get something done the better.

In the meantime, take ibuprofen (if you can) three times a day. Do you have a heat pad or a hot water bottle you can put on it? That should help as well. Keep it moving as much as you can as you don't want the muscles to seize up.

I would say that if there's no improvement over the weekend, book an appointment to see your gp though. I hope you get it sorted soon.

Hi Kate,
I know exactly how you feel as I have developed the same thing :irked:. Mine started last Tuesday and I couldnt even file. I then had to give 2 treatments away to Lauren as I couldnt move my arm...mainly due to the stabbing pain and the fact that I could not put any pressure on it at all.
I went to quacks and he prescribed me tablets called Naproxin which are an anti-inflam and the next day could at least work but gingerly!
Ask about physio as the temptation is to not move the joint in certain positions as this causes pain, but the consequence is you loose more and more movement. The physio will give you excersises to prevent this been a long term problem x
hth get betta soon xx

i thought i had this too - left arm = and left sholder is going mad - it aches like hell (just under the trapezius muscle) i wish i could put it down to nails but i cant as im right handed and this pain is in my LEFT shoulder - some more comments would be great

i suffer with this too....in my left shoulder and elbow, sometimes its worse than others... geeg told me, its most likely to be posture related... ie.. height of chair etc... i have been looking for a gel arm rest, because i have noticed i lean on my left elbow whilst gripping my clients fingers. apparently gripping for long periods of time is a main contributer to tennis elbow... so if your doing 8 clients a day its going to be far worse than doing one. so other than giving up nails, which is an absolute NO NO for me. try concentrating on your posture whilst working.

Thanks for all your replies guys  good news though, the pain has almost gone :) i am completely baffled as to what it was, but i do jump to conclusions and when i looked frozen shoulder up on the net it really worried me  i hope that any of you who are suffering from it get better very quickly, ive had a little insight as to what its like and i feel for you, i really do  Im hoping that its not going to re-occur, i couldn't cope with that, i couldn't even do my bra up or tuck my shirt into my trousers ! Thanks for your concern though guys xxx

I have just had an operation for a frozen shoulder, I have been suffering it for over a year now. By the sounds of all your symptoms tho they are similar they do sound more posture related.

But Jjust a few pointers for you, Frozen shoulder almost always affects the less dominent arm..it usually starts off with minor aching rather than major pain, and you then find you have less and less movement in your arm.

Hope this helps a bit....

Suze xx

I reckon you must have slept a bit funny and pinched a nerve slightly. I'm really glad it's eased off though.

Wow - I was just reading my old threads there.

My update on that was that I got reffered to a specialist - she said to come back 6 months later and assured me that surgery would NOT help and that it takes approx 2 years for it go (by then I had had it about 14 mths) .

She said she knew it wasn't what I wanted to hear but it WOULD get better on its own. I wanted to cry. But it did go - even though I don't have 100% movement - maybe 98%.

I am so glad it went. Reading those posts reminded me of the agony I was in with that I am having renewed appreciation of the fact it doesn't hurt anymore.

xx
