Hi, just wanted to know if any of you watched Trevor Macdonald last night with his documentry on women and there wine. I hate to put my hand up , but I think Im one of those that drinks too much of it ,half a bottle a night easy, Id say.

I wish I could stop it , but its just got so easy for me now to reach out for the bottle whilst Im cooking dinner.

How many others admit you drink too much wine, Im hoping there will be loads of you by the way , so I wont feel so guilty XXX:rolleyes:

I dont drink alcohol at all. But my dad is simular he drinks ruffly 6-9 cans every single night basicly he is an alcoholic (reason why i dont drink dont want to be like him) If you really want to stop perhaps you could have professional help. Its ok if your drink and its not affecting anyone else around you then i supose that is ok ( apart from it is affecting your health which isnt good) But if it is affecting others around you perhaps you could get some help? or slowly try to cut down. xx

GUILTY! It is worrying cause they say that if you are asking yourself the question "am I dirnking too much" the answer is yes.

I was really proud of myself on Sunday night. I left a couple of geeks at c9pm and returned to my hotel. I popped into the bar for a glass of wine to take up to my room. A glass was £5 and a bottle was £11. Oh dear, which one do I buy???? Proudly I can say, I got the glass - I know I would have polished off the bottle which would not have been a good idea x

You are not alone either, I drink far too much too.:o

I dont drink ......only now and again say....twice a year...but i smoke....xx

Same as me but i dont touch alcohol but i do smoke....Allot:irked: i wish i never started as makes my clothes smell makes my sinuses hurt sometimes but if im honest i can never see myself having the willpower to give up

See now I used to smoke and gave up about a year ago, and now Ive turned to drinking wine instead.xx

Is there something in your lives that makes you drink to de-stress?? I was drinking a bottle a night during the week, and would start at lunchtime on the weekends when I was working in a corporate environment, but now I would be hard pushed to finish a glass of wine!! I dont feel that I need it any more, and I'm sure its something I did subconsciously to blott out the stresses of work

I rarely drink, but 9/10 if I do I am so ill the next day it is awful.I know for a fact if I didnt get the horrendous hangovers I get I too would be drinking far too much. Most of the ladies I know drink wine most nights.

I dont think it has anything to do with stress,Ive just got into this habit of downing half a bottle whilst making dinner, I seem to enjoy my food more after drinking, and then I stuff meself stupid, fall asleep..and then wake up feeling uurrr, and think why did I do it?

Out of interest how do you feel when you dont have the wine that night?x

I think the fact that wine has got so cheap has greatly contributed to this problem (if you feel it is a problem).

I made a conscious effort at the start of the year to only drink at weekends. After an initial 3 weeks without anything, I now only drink at weekends. I have to say it was much easier than I first expected! The glass of wine at night was just a complete habit. It helps to find a subtitute, mine was ginger beer. Even alcohol free wine to start with.

I now look forward to a wee glass of wine on a Friday night and don't feel guilty. One thing I have noticed is that I seem to feel the effects quicker and hangovers are as bad as ever! I am now finding that I drink very little at the weekends, the craving seems to have lessened a great deal.

Most of my friends (all mums!) have a wine or 2 at night, so it is a common practice. Hope this helps x:)

Have you had a drink tonight Debbie?:wink2:

Your thread has got me thinking today and I made up my mind not to have a glass or 4 tonight. I have to say thou, I'm just dying for a glass:(. The plus side is I don't feel tired and I've already done the pack lunches for tomorrow....the down side....I'm bored:lol::lol::lol:no not bored, restless is the word.

No I have not had one tonight, there is no wine in the house and I had to take my daughter swimming after tea, so even if there was a bottle around I couldnt of touched it till now.

Its not bothering me at the moment, its more when Im cooking tea ,but today I sat and drunk a cup of tea whilst dinner was cooking.

Tomorrow we are off for a first visit to Brownies for my daughter, so hopefully tomorrow night will be another night without a glass ,so at least this is a start.
