hi guys,

ive had this trouble with my uv top coat. when ive finished my gel or l & p i put the shine on with uv top coat. it goes on smooth, but when its cured and i feel them after they have like gel bobbles on them.

ive tried wiping the nail with scrub fresh, then ive tried not wiping it. erm put it on thin, thick. curing it longer and dont know what else it could be,

advice needed fellow geeks

xx:rolleyes:

Hi, with my uv top coat u have to let it dry naturally rather than cure it, could try that yourself and see if that makes a difference x

what topgloss is it...?

I think she is talking about a uv cured gel topgloss...not a enamel top coat...ALL uv gels require curing under a Gel lamp

Had a post just like this the other day from a gel user.

The final surface of the nail must be filed with nothing smoother than a 180 grit file. Maybe you are making the surface too smooth.

2nd. The final surface must be absolutely dry and free of any oil from your fingers or other. I never wipe or touch the surface with my fingers. I dust off and then apply the Finishing Gloss ... not to thin and not to thick .. just a nice glossy layer and

3rd don't forget to cover the sides of the free edge as well as the capping the end. Cure and it will be perfect.

There is a certain brand that does create these little bumps/spikes...cant remember the brand now..?

Oh, sorry! think i got the wrong end of the stick! I use calgel and after I have done pink and white nails i apply clear gel, then finish with a uv enamel top coat, If I do a set of nails in colour I do not apply a clear gel and just finish with a high gloss enamel top coat (all calgel products)

hi ya

its profile uv top coat, i wanted to use this up before going back to the ibd intense seal. (as i use ibd at the moment).
i am waiting for fundage to do brisa gel conversion, already have the lamps so thats a bonus

oh and geeg im finishing of with a white buffer block, so it could be that. making it to smooth thanks you.

its ibd intense seal

does a FAB job WHEN:eek: it works.

More often than not it gave these little 'glass like spikes' on it when it had cured.

No matter if i did it thick/thin/lock cured/didnt lock cure/180 gritted.....it was a nice viscosity but just didnt deliver.

Thats strange, I have never had a problem with IBD intense seal. I have used a coupe of others that have not been as good but IBD is the best ive used so far.

Hi Geeg, quick question.. I use the 180 grit boomerang buffer, dust off carefully, then clean with scrub fresh, wait until I see nail is dry, then apply finishing gloss. Could I leave out the scrubfresh step? Thanks, Victoria:)

I get this sometimes with Glaze and Go and have found that if the application is too thick then you get these little spikes/bobbles of gel in places.

As long as you don't touch the surface with your fingers while filing and dust off well then you don't have to use Scrub Fresh .. I never do.
