Am going mobile soon as nail tech, spray tanner and spa mani and pedi, would you wear a unifom or just everyday clothes???:green:

Hey was thinking about this myself!! I'm planning on going mobile soon too..
I was thinking something in the middle, like dark jeans or trousers and dark nice top. I think when ya keep it clean and simple with all black or something it can look as good as a uniform... once its not too casual!
hth :)

Thats a good idea, good luck with your mobile venture!:green:

Personally i would wear a tunic.. as looks [professional and will protect ur clothes to.

It's personal choice really. I prefer not to as I felt like a "staff" in one! I wear smart sports wear.

I'd say a uniform as it gives a proffesional and clean image :) even if its a simple black tunic and trousers.

I feel it also gives clients coffidence that you know what your doing - not that it makes a difference to your abilty just clients perceptions!

just MHO.

I suppose it takes away the "what shall i wear dilema" and it can be put over anything. Still not sure though:green:

Personally speaking and speaking from what my clients have said over the years(both mobile and salon)I think we should wear a uniform. We are professionals and a uniform shows this professionalism. It lets our clients know who we are when we either knock on their front door or go to greet them in a salon,it sets us apart and gives the clients confidence in us.

I am proud of my uniform and take pride in wearing it.Also there are some lovely colours and styles at reasonable prices these days.Regular clothes can get damaged and are not designed for bending and stretching in.They can make you perspire and feel quite uncomfortable after a few hours of wearing them(i.e if spray tanning or carrying out a massage)

Anyway,HTH.

I think if you had a look at some of the salon wear you would love it there is some lovely funky stuff around. It does look good and is great not to think, what shall I wear!

If you walked into a salon, would you be happy to see staff wearing sports wear, jeans, tops etc?
To me it would say that they don't take what they do very seriously! You'd want the salon smart and tidy wouldn't you, well surely you'd want the staff looking like that too.

Being mobile makes no difference you still have to look proffesional..so a nice smart tunic says a thousand words.

xx

I was just thinking it's quite interesting that the higher up you get in the medical profession the less of a "uniform" you need to wear and how they dress doesn't make me think they are less able, I actually think they are lucky they don't have to dress like clones! I am a professional and no one seems to judge me on my dress but I do dress smart casual and wear similar things for work. I found salon wear hot and uncomfortable! But that's just me!

Some people feel comfortable in a uniform and some don't and if you have the choice do what feels right!

You're right Weezie in the higher up the medical professionals get the less uniform they wear but how many of us say we think they looked much smarter in their uniforms :green: It never ceases to amaze me how some of these Drs look like they're cleaners in their scruffy blues and clogs or trainers.
Also they do make a lot of uniforms in breathable fabrics nowadays and seem to make the cut of the materials much better by way of allowing more movement.I have a lovely uniform(actually I have quite a few different ones as I work full time and need to change regularly)

Incidently I never ever wear my uniform over regular clothes. If I get cold I take a matching cardi with me .

That's interesting Babs well, maybe I've just not found the right uniform yet then!
