I did a bikini wax on someone last week and it did not go well.

I could not get all the hairs out as they were too short and bruised her in one area.

I cannot remember the last time this happened and am feeling really annoyed with myself.

I am probably going to stop waxing and concentrate on other areas of the business which always go well.

Feeling really depressed about the waxing situation - I only charged her £5 but she has since phoned saying she wants her money back (which is fine with me) but am worried that she could take it further. (I am insured).

Professional advice greatly appreciated.

Which wax did you use?
The bikini area is the area most often bruised. This is usually done by not stretching the skin enough.
I had one client who came to me after going to another place and she was badly bruised. They had used strip wax and gone over the area 6 or 7 times
I use non-strip wax. I stretch the skin as i am applying the wax as well as when removing it. I use oil under the wax.
I wouldn't let one bad experience put you off though. We have all made mistakes-we are all human.
How long was the hair? Maybe it was just too short to get at.
Go through it all again step by step and try and think if you could have done anything differently.
Don't stress about it.

Hi thank you for your advice and comments.

I would say that I probably did not stretch the skin enough in one area.

Does anyone have any tips for stretching the skin when a client is very thin. Much of the bikini area went into a hollow and I found it difficult to stretch the skin there.

(I only went over the hairs once - but your tip re using oil is new to me, so thank you).

Was considering going on a new waxing course with The Waxing Queen - anyone any experience of this - sounds excellent.

Sometimes clints can be extremely boney in that area , especially like you said , if they are thin.
Just a couple of thoughts -

Have you tried asking them to just let the leg hang over the edge of the couch.? Sometimes that is more comfortable for them and can give a flatter surface for you to work on.

Also try small sections. You don't necessarily have to remove the hair in one application. It will be more comfortable for the client and will help you stretch the skin easier.

Give the client her money back , then offer to do it for her for free next month. Its the way that you recover the situation that is important , and that's how you will be judged.
Express lots of concern and offer lots of TLC . It costs nothing and will help keep your reputation in tact.

I use Perron Rigot jasmine oil. If you book on a course with Kim she will show you how to apply the oil and her courses are excellent. I did my intimate male waxing course with her and she is friendly, approachable and you will leave your course with bags of confidence :)

Thank you to the people who have helped me today, I really appreciate it.

Can you describe where you were stretching the skin and I'll try to talk you through it?

Don't even think about giving up waxing. If she's asked for a fiver back, then you can do without clients like her.

Up your game and become excellent.....then you can charge much more. My gut feeling is that this lady made you feel nervous and that's why you messed up.

Don't lose heart. All is not lost. xxx

I hear Kim is a fabulous waxing trainer!

I wouldn't give up waxing. It sounds like its something you need to do more to get your technique and confidence up to scratch. Like the girls said, its important to stretch the skin to prevent bruising and not to go over the area more that twice.

Also, if it is a new client, maybe you could explain when booking how long the hair needs to be. About a grain of rice.

hey girls, not sure if I've started this thread properly as I'm new to the site. I recently took a course in waxing, it was a one day course which I have found didn't give much confidence although I now have to study for a few months. My question to anyone that can answer is about waxing your own bits! I'm not trained in brazillians and hollywood but wanted to try it on myself after the waxing course to save some money(the hollywood). My hair is thick and course so I found it quite painful and couldn't find the pain thresh hold to go down to the labia so I'm in quite a mess!lol I've heard proffessionals say that they were very experienced before doing such treatments on their selves but I'm determined to get it right. I struggled to get all the hairs although i don't have this problem in other areas and couldn't decide the best position to be in for the labia with only one hand to stretch etc. Any advice???

I'm interested in womens extreme, and brow design as it seems i'm lacking in confidence in these areas, havent been shown the brazilian yet.
Thanks jackie B

angelina has given you some great advice there. Its also a good idea to bend your clients leg in (the sort of thing you do for your smear) This will stretch the skin out also. Dont be afraid to ask your client to stretch parts as well.
Don't let it put you off sweetie. It's just something that you have learnt from xxx

Great advice dont give up xx
