Hi there
if you can help it wud be great as i feel i'm going crazy:cry:
need to have this site busy soon as i'm renting the nail area and business in the whole salon is slow, well dublin is lately!

Got myself a website builder and put together what i could, i found loads of threads on this and tried to add meta tags, the robot follow one in particular. I tried every way but cant get it in there, i'm only able to access the content html, not the whole page if you know what i mean..

i'm brutal at explaining myself, sorry..
also the meta tag google gave me to verify my site cant go in either!
i'm only given options to add description or keywords.
Its Home

now i've loads to finish on the site, will have our own pic's up soon we're having the place touched up at the moment so ignore the current pics

thanks in advance xxx

Hi Select the page option on the top of your browser bar, then select view source and then edit your meta tags if you wish. You will get a prompt to save any changes. :)

what site builder are you using?

Had a quick look at your page, and your meta tags and your <title> are defined as follows:

<title>Home</title>

<meta name="description" content="beauty salon specials">

<meta name="keywords" content="Nail, extensions, acryllic, gel, art, manicure, pedicure, IPL, waxing, facials, body, holistic, make-up, tan,">

Ah, so, from what you've said, the site builder just gives you the option to change the "description" and "keywords" meta-tags, right? So if Google has given you a custom meta-tag, it won't let you add it? I haven't come across any such tags from Google myself before, but then I wait for Google to index sites itself rather than suggesting them to Google directly...

That would suggest that you'd have to add Google's meta tag to the page by editing the HTML manually, that's if you actually have access to the HTML at all with your site builder...

In my opinion, rather than having "Home" as the <title>, you'd be better changing it to something like "Eden Therapy - Beauty, Body, Nails, Tanning, Holistic Therapies - Beauty Salon Specialists in Cabra, Dublin, Ireland" - as the contents of the <title> tag carry a high weighting in terms of what the search engines index - and having it just say "Home" is wasting an opportunity to get extra search engine rankings on the things that you most want to be searched for. The same goes for the "description" meta tag.

I had this very same problem with the google verification tag. Basically they just want to confirm that you are able to edit the page therefore you own the page sort of thing.

I use an ftp program for uploading files and photos generally to my online webspace so I opened that program as if I was going to upload some new files. Then I logged onto my webspace and looked for the index file. I then had the option to open it in the programs online editor and added the google tag there before saving.

The downside of this method is that when I update my website via the website builder program it overwrites this file and then I have to do the whole thing again when needed.

Sorry if I've confused you - I confuse myself sometimes

Btw, the program I use is called CuteFTP and it's really easy to use. Just do a search on google and you'll find their website.

Cheers,
Hazel
