Is Wales underestimated? The Nail Industry in Wales has grown in recent years. Most villages even in rural Wales have a Beauty Salon or Nail Bar within easy reach. Why is it then that people disregard Wales as a business opportunity?

Those type of people tend to be small minded. Inland spains the same. People cant believe i can make a good living just with nails! But ive proved them wrong... so can you!

I do wonder why the "bigger" companies aren't offering training here in Wales - They would be very happily shocked to see what numbers they would get coming through their doors!

Great trainers don't grow on trees!! Sometimes it is hard to locate a great trainer in a certain area .... maybe some wonderful Welsh nail technician who wants to go for it should offer their services to become a trainer to one of the 'bigger' companies you talk about?

I would love to be considerd good enough to be in this position one day, but in order for that to happen I need the training to be closer to home so that I don't have to pay overnight accomadation or big travelling costs
(sometimes both) on top of the training costs.

I've travelld a fair distnace for most of my training and it's only through the kindness of a top geek here I've been able to afford the best training to date ( thanks a milion times over Fifitrix ).
Don't misunderstand me, I don't mind travelling to get the best but the bank manager doesn't share my enthiusiasm .
In order to be in the position mentioned I need that training closer to home.

I have plans for a training event in Wales, watch the welsh social group for info, hth

EzFlow have been training in Cardiff for over 12 months.

Totally agree with you. I live in Mid Wales in a place that is miles away from anywhere and even Cardiff is a two and a half hour trip! I want to do a gel course but with travelling, accomadation and course costs it's very expensive.

Hi

Just thought I'd let you know that I work for a very well respected Nail and Beauty Training Academy in South Wales.

We have a purpose built training school and cover all aspects of nail, beauty and holistic training. We are a VCTC accredited training school, so you are also able to work towards an NVQ if you wish.

If you are interested, please don't hesitate to PM me and i'll be happy to help

Very interesting responses! So it seems that the problem is the training side of things. But not so much in the South Wales (Cardiff) area. What companies would you guys like to train with?
I can see that some of you do train already or have aspirations to do so. How many people do train in Wales to date?

I love some of the responses! :)

I think it was just a good point that most of the big companies you call for training are based in the North or South of England - of course any therapist worth her salt doesn't mind travelling to training courses

I know of lots of local companies offering training but when you get to BIG BRANDING training (not sure if we can mention names) they are definitely not training in Wales.

But fair point about people training up to do the training. Except I was never interested in teaching hence why I'm not a teacher - just love doing my treatments.

Have to also point out that I am aware of Kim Lawless coming to Cardiff to do her fantabulous training soon - so it's not all bad!

Good thread tho! :)

CND and Flirties for a start

I believe that CND have training in Bridgend. But again thats in the South! But I have not heard of CND anywhere else in Wales.
What could we as Techs do to encouage these companies to come to Wales??

CND used to be in Bridgend but no longer :(

Although we lack the training here being a busy mum of three year old twins - I do like the opportunity to go away for training days ;-)

It would just be nice if Wales was recognised as a place companies considered investing in training in

.x.x.x

p.s. I don't mean to say anything to offend anybody already running training courses in Wales. I have attended many places in South Wales and have had the best training from these guys .x.

.x.x.x.x.

But thats just it! South Wales only. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining for me. I live in Cardiff and there are lots of places to train. But what about the rest of Wales??
I wonder what happened with CND in Bridgend??

Yeah I see what you mean.....I now see the dilemma the companies are facing! You can't please all of the people all of the time

.x.

Yes there is a dilemma for these companies, but I'm sure if they did the research they would find that there is a call for training in other parts of Wales. As I put in my blog, the Nail Industry has grown in Wales. Its huge all over not just Cardiff and the South. There is a gap in the market...............

CND for me too. I would love to be good enough to train others the CND way. I recently got to train with Kelly in Leeds, she was so inspirational . I was in awe of her and i also got to see Gigi work...... speechless did not even come into it!

as for the beauty side, i really dont know. I did all my beauty training in chester (they were great) . I hope to be able to be an excellent trainer one day.

Where i live is very rural and there is a huge lack of private training.

i want to have an academy one day that teaches beliefs, standards and inspiration. an ethical training centre, a place of excellence.

one day eh??

Actually CND has offered training in Wales for years and years until recently. Nothing happened as such .. we still are in regular touch with Andrea Sanderson but as a single woman she decided on a career change and is in a completely different job and business now with all the perks that a one woman business didn't not give her and a bit more security. We love her still and we miss having her there.

Educators of the kind CND recruit do not grow on trees .. they are very special and are a wonderful team and world renowned ... when we find someone in that area that fits the bill (or they find us tigi) we won't hesitate to put them forward for CND ambassador training.
