Hi guys

I cleaned all my gun out the other day took it all apart and soaked it in warm water and soap and let it dry overnight.

Got my mum to start spraying me tonight and it was coming out all dark and like it was splotting out rather than spraying, i adujested the spray flow several times and it still done it!

Whats going on and what could the problem be?:irked:

p.s i did spray tan a body builder with his lotion about 4 days ago but as i mentioned i cleaned the gun out for ages!
UPDATE: Just turned the flow down more sprayed my mums leg now it looks so watery!

havnt you been on here before with that problem????

Don't leave it to dry with soapy water on. The gun will dry and the water will evaporate and leave soap residue in the system.
You need to rinse the soap out before it dries :)

Yeah i did that rinsed it all under cold water after the soak

could you have damaged the needle? my trainer told me if this got damaged it can cause problems?

The tip of the needle could be scratched or bent. I would give it a good clean out again. Ideally use distilled water so nothing can get left in the gun. I live in a hard water area so distilled water is best.
I know you haven't cleaned your gun for a long time so it needs a really good clean out.
I would also contact your couture trainers and ask them to go through the routine with you.

I was thinking this too.
Violet sweetie, when you pull the trigger back have a look at the hole the solution comes out of. You should see a tiny little needle going in and out.
If this is damaged it can cause problems! Someone dropped the gun where I work and bust the needle and we had the same problem

Try putting a very very weak solution of Mr Muscle window cleaner and warm water in your cup (1 teaspoon Mr muscle window cleaner to 3/4 full cup), turn your dial way up and spray through, pull and let go of your trigger quickly and then give it a long spray, this may push through any residue that it left in your gun.

Then turn your solution adjuster screw back to where you would if you were doing a regular spray and spray onto some couch roll, you should be able to see then if it still spotting.

I just pulled the trigger looked through the whole and it is coming in and out like you said so not sure if its damaged or not? How can i tell if the needle is damaged or not?

Tommorow i will give it another clean and try spraying again and see what happens.

Please do not put WD40 in your gun!!
You should never put anything oil based in your gun.
Only put water based products in there.
Oil based products wont clean out thoroughly because they will displace water.

I wont be putting anything in the gun other than water.

when you cleaned your gun did you strip it down completely? i.e. take the needle out etc or did you just run it under the tap with the needle still in?

You will be able to see if the needle is damaged by taking it out of the gun and looking at it, if its bent or anything you will see it.

I'd strip it down and clean it again, completely strip it and put it all in a solution of mild soapy water and leave it for a while, then rinse it all and dry with a bit of couch roll and re-assemble, then see if it sprays better.

Yeah i took it completely apart took the front off, took the needle out everything. I'm going to check the needle again today to see if its bent

I was also told to put WD40 in my gun by my trainer but when i had training for spray tattooing my trainer went mad.
The trainer has worked with airbrush guns and they manufacture their own and have done for years and he said definitely don't use WD40. You can get bits left in the gun and they could end up being sprayed out mid tan
I just didn't want Violet cleaning her gun with Wd40. Always better to use a water based product. :)

you should only clean the gun with cold water and the best thing i have found is a few drops of clear window line in the water and soak the pieces that way, and i spray it through with this and then with just normal water. if you'r gun keeps playing up i send it back to manufactorer and get them to look at it.

WD40 is good..it will break down grease/soap residue, lubricate the moving parts and displace any water left in the gun after cleaning and general usage.

HTH

I have sprayed the parts of my gun "when dismantled" with WD40 on the advice of Collin and have had good results.

Can we just clarify that this is method you would recommend and NOT filling the cup with a WD40 cocktail? Some folks may get a little confused here as they have been advised to put window cleaner in the cup previously.

Water did do the job. Machine is working fine now lol
