hi geeks im finding that when using my uv lamp it can be quite tricky for the client as they have to cross there arms in order to cure their right hand as i have it on the left of my table.i have a full hand lamp but my table is not big enough for me to place another lamp the otherside.
i just wondered what you geeks do and what you thought about having it where my hand cushion would usually be so it would be like i was using the lamp for an arm rest.
do any of you do this and if so do you put a towel or something over the top or can you not do that?
thanks for any help.xx

I have mine on the left of the client then when its time to use it I slide it across to the middle and use it as you have said as a rest otherwise it is a bit awkward. I mainly do L&P so only use at the end for glaze.

I do basically the same except I have mine to the right of the client. :)

i use 2 lamps...it makes a big difference.

I used to put mine in the middle and a towel over and couch roll it was more comfy but I didnt feel it was right to lean over equipment. I now put it to the left side and its a small price to pay for lovely nails

MIne sits on the left side as and when I use it. My clients happily cross over hands when needed to do so,,,,,no one has ever said its uncomfortable. Sometimes I think we can spend a little to long on something like this. We probably worry about it more than clients as they don't even notice.
If you found a better way that works for you great......but if not, and your clients aren't worried,,,,then don't worry either xx

I have two lamps. One on the clients right - on my table, the other on a little stand to their left. Works really well because both hands can be in at the same time - no waiting. My table also is not large enough for 2 lamps. I bought a very inexpensive metal stand that is actually meant to hold a plant. The surface is the perfect size for my lamp.

Hi Tracey, I have only been doing gel about a month and was a bit concerned about this my self, but it does'nt seem to be a problem, the only thing I would say is do the hand closet to the lamp 1st so they dont have to constantly cross over, It would be great having 2 lamps but space is an issue for me and the weight of all my stuff already lol xx

2 lamps increases the speed of your aplication dramaticly. So if you do mostly gel you should really consider this. I usually work one nail at a time when i'm building the apex or painting the smile line, this way i can freeze cure and alternate the hands. You can save up to 30min per aplication/maintenance with 2 lamps instead of just 1.
If you use mostly L&P or if you use gel just for the gloss i think it is hardly worth having 2 lamps.

I´ve been worrying about the same thing, as I feel the clients must be very uncomfortable with crossing their hands. But I´ve asked them, and it´s fine, they are used to it, as most places don´t have two lamps to use.
And if it is uncomfortable, then we can move the lamp a bit to adjust the angle. :)

It would be ideal to have two lamps, of course, and I think my table is large enough for that. But at the moment I just cannot afford a new Brisa lamp, so one will have to do until I get some more money. And as practicing tech that might take a while... :green:

thans for all the replies.
i think eventually i would like to get another lamp but i dont really do gel that often yet to warrant paying for another one at the moment.
my clinets havent complained or said they were uncomfortable it was just me being curious as to what you other geeks do.
i did see somewhere that you can buy an arm rest that actually stands up so that you slide your uv lamp underneath it.
does anyone have one of these?

I felt like you about another lamp but bit the bullet and bought one.

It made an enormous difference to my time and also comfort for my client, in fact business increased as a result and made my purchase more than worthwhile.

Don't forget that with 2 lamps the usage of each set of bulbs is reduced by half, so once you have made the initial investment it really does make sense:)

mine is in the middle as it's a twohand lamp

2 lamps for me too.
i have them on stands underneath my desk so they dont take up any tabletop space.
