I posted a thread on here a while ago asking your opinions to white tips,as to whether you thought they were less reliable and not long-lasting, compared to tips which require little or no blending.
Nearly everyone who replied said there was NO difference. But I still seem to be having problems.
I understand 100% that tips give LENGTH NOT STRENGTH but when I gave my friend a full set,by the time 2 weeks were up and infills were due she had ONLY ONE nail left on!!!!!
Still persevering even after that I decided to give myself a full set. I did that on tuesday-today is thursday and TWO tips have snapped already!!!!
(before I did this full set I had the previous set with 'blending required tips' on for SIX weekd with NO probs)
My website is almost finished and I am going to start advertising myself to the public-but I am not confident enough to use the white tips with the problems that have been happening as it will ruin a reputation of ggod nails over time and will make future clients unsure of my work.
Pleas can anyone shed some light on this, all views and advise eagerly wanted!
Thanks for reading as I waffled on abit:)

Is this a problem you are having with white tips as opposed to white l&p application?? If so, perhaps you are applying your product a lot thinner over white tips. A lot of people apply their white acrylic a bit thicker in order to get the smile line and tip coverage in one bead, then they put on more pink than is needed to bring it up to meet the white if that makes sense. If you are using white tips with one colour over the top you might be applying thinner, hence the breakages.

There's absolutely no chemically related reason why enhancements with white tips would be weaker than enhancements with any other colour of tip, the problem will most probably lie in your application of product on top of the tip, and the above seems like the most likely scenario in my opinion.

p.s - if the above is the case, why not just do a p&w application anyway??? They look much nicer than white tips.

hi hun,

what make of tips are you using ?
could you try practicing doing pink and white with your l&p?

Tips which are blended are always stronger than tips which are not. I don't know why you got so many replies saying they are the same. hth x

Thanks blossom this is what I thought.
I think my wording may have confused some readers, when I say white tip I dont mean it as a colour tip or a tip which you then apply product over, but as the tip which IS the french white, so no white l&p needs to be applied. My application of l&p is fine its just I wanted to try out the white tip instead as it can be quicker-if thats what a client wants.
Thanks for all replies.

Hiya ... I would try building the nail up more at the stress area.

I would have said exactly the same as this,
Infact I still do the same myself sometimes then realise 4 nails in..and have to go back and apply more product lol ( and I wonder why it takes me so long to do my sets lmao :green:)

I think you naturally make the apex higher when doing pink & whites..

I can understand why so many people say white tips are just as long lasting and as strong, because I generally don't have problems with either
(And I have had those naughty clients who don't come back untill 4 weeks later when they get their monthly pay)
Whether it be sculptured or tip or any other method of application, the nails are still holding up just fine..

def what I think.

tips that you blen may seem toyou stronger because the risk of breakage at the stress area is a little smaller than with a french one. since it covers it.

you should post pict of your 2 appl, one with the french tip, one with the blended one. I'm sure we'll sort things out this way, as I am also sure it's a matter of product placement.

I don't think you can make general statements as there are so many variables. I can only spek for what I use, but last week I put on some non blended well-less CND Performance tips in Natural ... used Gel Bond adhesive and didn't have time to do an overlay .

They are all still on despite cooking and washing up and everything else for the family for a week nearly. Even I cant believe it ... in fact I'm going it to the office today to finish the job and get an overlay on them before something happens.

I think they are as strong as a tip with a well and do not see any reason why they shouldn't be if you are using a good tip with a strong adhesive..

Hiya,
Just a thought but when you apply the white tips are they attached firmly on the nail? The reason I ask is because when you apply a natural tip you can see through the tip if you have any air bubbles etc.. but with a white tip you cant really see whats going on underneath. I had a lady once who wanted white tips and her natural nails curled down so I couldn't really get the tips to sit properly on the nail.

I always prefer to use a well less tips and never have any problem with them at all, as long as you make sure the stress area is built up correctly I dont see why you should have a problem.

I use a white tip & white L&P over the top....Unless the nail beds are very short where i would use a natural tip to lengthen the nail bed...

I found when using white tips with clear/pink L&P only I didnt build high enough and therefore the tip area was no where near as strong....

I find by using a white tip and building with white L&P the stregth in the tip is much better and re-balance is far easier..

i used white tips yesterday as my client had fab nails and could get away with them.
once i had applied my 3beads of l&p for the 3 zones i then go back and add another ball to the stress area to build up the apex ect... ive worn white tips my self lots of times and i dont break them anymore than i do natural tips that are blended in.
i would also say to make sure that you are using enough product and make sure that you are building your apex, stress area etc...
could it also be possible that your client is quite heavy handed and therefore causes her nails to break?
when they have broken is it just the white tip that comes of and l&p is still left in zones 2 or 3 or does the whole nail come off?
