I'm hoping someone might have some experience of this, either themselves or with a client!

A normally "well behaved" client who has the odd nail off but nothing much usually, came in this time with 8 missing. The two that remained were on very firmly still. The fingers didn't show much signs of damage, well maybe on a couple, but most were free from the telltale white marks. She decided to have the other two removed to match and is going without for a few weeks (her idea not mine lol).

She's done nothing different from usual, she says, EXCEPT creosote a fence. Yes she may have got some on herself, no she didn't wear gloves.

Anybody know if there's anything in creosote which would affect her l&p nails?

A quick look at the MSDS for Creosote, seems to have it as pretty much totally oil based, albeit it is definitely not a very pleasant substance, and can be skin irritant at that.

Safety (MSDS) data for creosote

I would doubt if Creosote is the only cause of the problem....more likely that in doing the work she was a bit rougher on her nails than usual....and very probably had to use fairly hefty detergents to lift stains off her hands.

It'll give you a good spray tan though.....:wink2:

Another client Tall Tale

If she Creosoted the fence using her hands as the brush then yes, it would have had an effect on her nails. I presume she used a brush though in which case ... is she having a laugh???

She's abused her enhancements in one way or another.

and heaven knows what she used to get the creosote off her hands.

2 WORDS.......credit crunch !

lots of my clients are eeeking it out now from regularly coming every 2 or 3 weeks to now 4 or 5......and LONGER !

I think its hitting some peeps hard, especially as she has decided to take a 'nail break'

I dont think the creosote had a lot to do with it personally!:green:

Thank you everyone for your replies.

She would definitely know if she got some on herself as it BURNS!

I agree with Geeg, a tall tale!

You cant buy actual creosote any more as its against the law!
But you can buy a substitute to creosote.

Angie

using creosote without gloves, she deserves her nails to come off from the elbows down, that will learn her.

Gotta agree with the others here....clients tell porkys.
She may be too embaressed to say she can't afford you at the moment but unless she creosoted the fence with her nails I doubt it had anything to do with it tbh.
