Do you know what this is?

Try applying a light cuticle oil like solar oil. If the spots lighten or go away the a its pseudo leukonychia (white spots caused by dehydration or surface trauma) Very unlikely these are anything serious and will likely go away The only infection that can look like this is a rare type of...

    CND-which files/buffers?

Use the blizzard for pre thinning the tip and the 240 side of koala for blending Blizzard is nice but doesn't last as long as a hot shot in my opinion. It was designed for use with brisa gel and is still best with that. Hence the white grit not black. Same with the boomerang boards Hope that...

    CND-which files/buffers?

The 3 'most used' boards would be Hot Shot 100/180- great for taking down old product at the rebalance stage (also good for pre-thinning tips) *This board should never be used on natural nails as it is far too coarse. The 100 is good for the debulking during rebalance. The 180 can also be used...

Acrylic nails just "popped off", help!

Fair enough, but some clients.... well... they just would never be happy. Odds are you'll likely not see them as she will know she has done the damage after she broke the first one or two and proceeded to rip the rest off... If you do, dehydrate the plate with scrub fresh or isopropyl alcohol...

    Sanitising tools

I knew of salons that replace tools monthly... doesn't make it right just for appearances... From memory this has to be taught in some countries as this is the legal teaching requirement rather than what is correct for the nail enhancement industry Think of it like this, is a hospital theatre...

Acrylic nails just "popped off", help!

Nails don't 'pop' off (except in very rare circumstances when they have not been prepped properly) I would not offer anything without first being able to 'see the nail for assessment' If I saw any sign of damage to the nail plate then I would deem them 'ripped' off as the weakest part of the...

Sculpted gel tips vs plastic tips

No problem I suggest getting up to skill with tip and overlay. Then once your work is good and lasting well you can go and do an advanced training day to learn sculpts. Even fitting forms is an art in itself

Sculpted gel tips vs plastic tips

If done very well (correctly structured and built up with a strong apex and design) then sculpting is stronger However Sculpting the shape and structure with gels 'looks easy' but it is much harder to master, especially for someone new into sculpting gels. A sculpt even slightly mis-balanced...

    CND or NSI?

First off, I am Biased as I worked for CND and solely use their product, but I have used almost every brand of product. NSI is actually the older company and was a pioneer for health and safety so I will always give them respect CND were much more aggressive in their chemistry advancements...

    Sorry newbie question, again!

If applying a UV cured colour coat it should fall under one of two application's Colour over the natural nail - apply a base coat for optimal adhesion. The natural nail does generally not make a great adhesive base (may not apply to all UV systems) Colour over gel (or other enhancement) then...

Natural nail coming away from acrylic

This is called curling and is most often due to a dry natural nail plate and your daily use of nail/cuticle oil should be sufficient to reduce this happening... When a nail dehydrates or is damaged (thinned) too much it will shrink and curl, this causes it to pull away from the product. your...

    Badly bitten nails

I agree with Pure, very hard client to work on. In my personal experience the only solution to get them to stop destroying their nails is to make it hurt... in the pocket... I would sign them up for weekly rebalances, at full 3 week rebalance rates... I would only allow them to change to 2...
