I've had a cold for weeks. Its getting better now, but I'm at that stage where my nose is like a tap. I had one client today and I felt awful for her. It took me 2 hours for a full set (natural - normally takes me an hour and 15 mins), the reason being that I had to stop literally every 2 minutes to blow/wipe my nose, sanitise again, then carry on. Fortunately she was really understanding, but I'm not looking forward to the rest of the week if this is how its going to be!!

Is there a cold remedy that can stop my nose running? Its not going to look very professional sat with tissue bunged up each nostril but I cant think of anything else!!

i swear by the boots own brand cold and flu remedy. it comes in little tiny sachets that you just pour straight into your mouth and swallow. it tastes like a sort of lemon sherbet. its really effective and has loads more active ingredients in than some of the bigger brands.

You poor thing, that is the worst stage. I know it's easy to say but maybe you should be in bed rehydrating yourself?

I followed a tip from someone last time I had a cold & put Vicks Vapour Rub on my feet instead of my chest when I went to bed, it was great! I didn't have to use as many tissues as usual (I usually turn into the tissue queen) & the cold went away quicker than usual - maybe I was just lucky?

Zinc tablets/lozenges help boost the immune system and are great for colds. They do work best when taken just on the on-set of a cold but should help shorten the duration of the cold.

Feel better soon!!!

Hello, You poor thing.

My advise is catch up on loads of sleep, your body sounds very low on fuel.

I hope you feel better soon Michelle...

My advice..? Rest at every opportunity.... I never take anything for colds or coughs ( rarely get them...last one was about 15 years ago!!!! ) but I do think lots of rest and relaxation is the best thing for a more speedy recovery... xxxx

The only thing I find stops my nose dripping is Asda Nasal Spray. I only need to use it once a day and my nose is clear till the evening.

Plenty of hot honey and lemon drinks do the trick for me when I feel a cold coming on.

I'm more in favour of natural remedies than medicines, but that's just me I guess.

Oh I love honey and lemon too and am all for natural remedies, but when you are drippy nasal spray is the only thing that will stop it and I only take it if I have clients. I hate it when I am having a treatment and the professional is drippy so I dont want to do that to my clients.

me too...feel rotten. My mums just told me to take some garlic capsules...??

Go to bed with loads of tissue's up ya nose....that's the best !!!!......but failing that....rub some Vic's on your nose....trouble is....it stops running when its ready !!

Thanks everyone, I'll give some of those a try. I think you might be right though, I need to rest because I've had this cold for more than 4 weeks, I've never had a cold this long in my life.

Thanks again!!

high dose vitamin c capsules hun......

Go to the chemist shop and get CONTAC capsules. Take one in the morning before work and your nose wont run at all for at least 8 hours - honest. Only down side is that it also dries your moutha bit, so keep a bottle of water handy.
Also Vick on the soles of the feet and then bedsocks overnight, shortens the length of a cold.

A good shot of rum or brandy

Sounds great I will do that! Oh hang on you were talking to Michelle... right.... I will have one for Michelle too! :green:

(sorry for being cheeky, couldn't help it!)

Can you get Cold FX in your area?

It is very popular in Canada. It is all natural and can stop a cold dead in it's tracks. If you take it when you feel it coming on, it often prevents it. If you take it during the cold, it can shorten the duration and reduce the symptoms.

I can't take any cold medication because of side effects. I find Cold fx is the best thing out there.

You should do what all us guy's do...pretend it's flu, take a week off work ,lay in bed all day and get pampered when your wife comes home from a hard day at the office, picking the kids up from school, doing the washing, hoovering and making us an extra special bowl of her very special chicken soup.:eek:

though i did once have an awful ear infection whilst staying at a 5 star hotel, it was 100 times better than having it at home:lol:
