Ok, so, here's the thing.

I need to get up at 6:30 tomorrow morning for work. But here I am at 23:06 and I'm wide awake. And this is every day.

I believe my bodyclock is out of line. I'm awake at night and sleepy mornings. I reeeaaallly have a hard time getting out of bed, I almost need a Wallace bed that tips up!

Can anyone point me in the direction of a website or book that can genuinely reset my bodyclock to being awake daytimes, and feeling sleepy at around 11pm, an acceptable time? I'm not a teenager, I'm 39 for crying out loud!!!

Does anyone else have this problem?

I am exactly the same. I find it so hard to sleep at night and when I do get to sleep if I wake again bout 4 or so I am wide awake, the result being in the morning when it is time to get up I feel like I could sleep for ages. :irked:

I am interested to see if there are any suggestions. you are not alone hunny

Me too, there is even a social group on here, so we are not alone! GET TO BED!!!!! xx

Thank god you have posted this!
I am starting to think that I am a night time person. It doesn't matter what time I get up I am still not tired at this time of night. I have sod all energy throughout the day and it comes to 11pm and I could run a marathon!
I am really interested to see what answers you will get hun x

Golly look at all the replies already!

OK, OK, I'll get my hot milk and book and go up the apple & pears!

It was just like hearing my mum when I was little, she had such a job getting me to bed!

Must just join the social group first......:green:

I'm a nite owl too, but i can get by on 5 or 6 hours sleep.
If it's really bothering you then you need to have a routine.
Determine what time you need to go to bed and go to bed!
You need to go to bed at the same time every night. Even if you're not tired you still need to go.
Your body will get adjusted if you keep to the routine.
Same time to bed and same time to get up.
Try ir for a week and you'll be amazed-it really does work if you stick at it!

I am a terrible insomniac, just look at the time of posting. I go through phases whereby I cannot sleep at all to sleeping too much and I once went 7 days without any sleep  but that was pretty extreme even for me.

I am currently in a cycle where I am not sleeping and I am about 3.5 weeks into it as I type, sleeping tablets dont work for me. I literally am awake until my body screams it needs sleep (this can be upto 48 hours apart) and consequently I sleep whenever I am tired and usually really short power naps maximum 2 hours and wake up bright and alert. believe me its pretty exhausting lol.

My doctor recommends having a warm bath, try putting in some nice aromatherapy oil, some candles to totally relax down. A milky drink like horlicks, hot chocolate and not doing anything that stimulates your brain.

hope that helps

Anne you should try it too!
Go to bed the same time every night and get up the same time every morning.
If you're not tired when you go to bed you still have to go to bed.
If you're still tired in the morning, you still have to get up.
your body adjusts fairly quickly to this routine but you have to stick to it.
Give it a try and let us know how you get on.

the reason for my insomnia is medical related, it is a side effect of an existing condition and unfortunately I have to live with it. I have been like this for over 4 years and maybe one day it will settle down but even the doctors cannot help me.

So when I cannot sleep, I keep myself busy, I know its a contradiction to my earlier advice, but my insomnia isnt your everyday variety. However there are a lot of people out there just like me.

I have tried just lying there literally for hours and nothing. If youre not tired you cant make yourself tired. It usually passes after a few days/weeks until the next time which can be months apart :)

Hi
i know how u feel

i cant get to sleep at night n feel like a zombie in the mornings.
joined a gym last week n it opens at 7 so went up at 8 used all the weights n wore myself out then went to work, now i felt in bits but kept goin all day n hit bed at 10pm n conked out.

woke up in bits followin day but still slept that night, so gym again day after n slept great so think i'll keep it up as it seems to be working.

if you cant go the gym try going for a walk first thing or using a stepper or something before work! hope it works for you x

Dont have any caffeine after 7pm!! Try to do at least 30 mins of exercise - or do gardening lol!! I was out like a light Monday night after 2 hours of overhauling our garden! In times of stress and not sleeping I take Kalms and they do help me, I have new noisey neighbours who were causing sh*te at 3am this morning! I was fast asleep whilst my hubby was wide awake with them lol!!

I go to bed around 2am every night and get about 5 or 6 hours sleep. I have so much energy.

If you really to get into a different pattern you can either stay up until your eyes drop every night and get up early. That way you will start feeling tired earlier.

Or.....you can ask your doc for a short course of mild sleeping tabs to help you. xx

Hi Guys

Can only reiterate what Angelina says. I had a problem sleeping and the solution is as Angelina says go to bed every night at the same time and set your alarm clock and get up even if you are still tired. It takes approximately 20-28 days for your body to fully adjust. I have been practicing this technique know for @ 2 weeks and know come 11.00 I am absolutely shattered and have to go to bed lol but it does mean that for the first time in a long time I am actually at work not only on time but usually early !!!!
