What complete and utter pigs!!! (I want to call them worse but I'll be polite)

That does sound very strange alright.... I would be straight down to the police with a list of the salons you suspect and get them to check it out.

what a horrible thing to happen.... I hope you're ok... here's a

Goodness me, how distressing for you.
Do you have an alarm system or CCTV? I too wouldn't be surprised if it's been stolen to order; what do the rozzers have to say about it?
I wonder if there's any mileage in using one of those UV markers on high value products?
Probably not, but you never know!

sounds very suspect doesn't it!

hope that you are OK.

Everythings usually stolen to order as people have to shift it fast so they do not get caught with it. The rest is opportunists that see open windows/doors.

I know we are having a joke about this on the Dermalogica thread, but when it hits us smaller business's it hits us where it hurts. I have 3 people who have nicked tan machines and your trust is demoralised.

I was mugged outside my shop a few years back. The guy called and asked when we closed and hung around. They never caught him but it shook me up for a long time.

You will bounce back hun, just be grateful that they still left a lot of stuff behind. Get a rottweiler and leave him in your shop overnight. lol love to see that if they broke in again!!

I got a dog after i got mugged although think he needed me to protect him lol!

xx

So sorry for you hun, thats the last thing you need at this moment in time.xx

You poor thing! I am agreeing with Number1kitty. A lot of stuff is taken to order these days. I know a police man that says he even finds these criminals with the LIST!!!
I do hope you are ok, it must be devastating for you.
Did you get anything on camera? xxx

god how awful. we dont get anything in the way of stock as such. only a bare minimum. i would just not risk it after reading on here about stock theft.

I hope they catch the scumbags that have done it .

O you poor thing! I really feel for you. I hope you didn't have too much of the OPI/ CND.

The only thing i can say is at least nobody got hurt. Hope they catch the buggers!

i really feel for you chick, its not just the loss and inconvieniance but the thought of someone snooping around your salon! we had a break in about 6months ago i keep every door in the salon locked so they only got into the nail room where theres not much worth nicking, the stole a box of nsi turtle buffers????? i found this a strange and worthless thing to pinch?? but hey what do i know? it seems the crime rate in our industry is soring i have recently had to put up dummy cameras after 7 products over a number of weeks beeing stolen by our clients (very upsetting as we thought we knew our clients quite well) where is this world heading? xx

where is this world heading?

The same place it's been heading for for millenia. Stealing is nothing new and will always happen. You do right by locking everything up. There are few trustworthy people in the world. The best you can do is protect yourself from that.

Exactly the same thing happened to me just before easter. They cleaned out all my dermalogica and redken. The police said it a "professional" burglary. On the cctv they were wearing balaclavas and gloves so no joy there.
It's such a shock when it happens eh? I walked into an empty salon which echoed!
We redecorated the salon that week, restocked, and had more security than fort knox fitted. Feels good in there again.
So, deep breath, chin up, sort out your insurance, and don't let scumbags win. You have something that losers like those thieves want but will never own.
Plus shame on anyone who has ever bought "moody" gear. It's been nicked off people like us. Never forget that
My very best wishes x

Prob shouldn't be saying this but most of our 'service users' in work admit that their crimes are done to order and most stuff ends up on ebay!! They have stolen some really bizzare stuff that even they wouldn't know what to do with but they know what sells and what doesn't. Most of them get caught eventualy and the police will take them on a drive round for Take into considerations, this is where they admit to the court about other offences they have committed to get a lesser sentence which is totally bizzare!!!
All I can say hun is that they will get caught for something one day.
Keep ur chin up

Thanks to you all for your replies and comments it means a lot xxx

Police have found some fingerprints but don't hold out much chance of finding anyone !
In the end they have taken approx 2K worth of O.P.I and CND nail products !!

I hope this post will help ensure salon owners to be more aware about security, and not to buy any professional stock cheap unless you are 100% sure where it has come from !!! as no doubt it will have come from salons like ours.

Once again thanks to all your replies

How awful! We got our house broken into in 2005 and we were upstairs asleep at the time. They even drove off in our car. The police said that Audis were very popular to steal and they had probably followed us for a while and took it to order! Everything else they took (playstation / watch etc apparently was a bonus. We got a phonecall 6 months later saying that it was used in an armed robbery in Leeds and then burnt out!!

it was the fact that someone had been on my property that bothered me so much and that I had a child upstairs. I had to have a friend round every time hubby went out for months afterwards. It's a good job hubby didn't wake up at the time as he would either be attacked or arrested for sending them on their way!

I feel so sorry for you hun. It's so horrible. at least nobody was hurt. These people are scum. Maybe they will be really thick and put it all on ebay as a joblot. I'll keep an eye out!

Thinking of you XXX
