Hi guys just needed some advice.

My son has been ill now for 7 days with a temperature, hes been to the doctors and they said they dont actually know whats wrong with him, its probabley just viral.

I am petrified that he is getting measles as he has a runny nose cough and his eyes were pink and watery on Friday.

He hasnt got a rash and I keep checking him constantly.

My fears are because he hasnt had is MMr ***, hes now 5. I was so anxious about him having it as he had a reaction to his jabs when he was a baby and had to have them in hospital.

So I was totaly agains him having the MMR ***. Especially with the autisum scare.

Has anybody had a child with measles thats not had the MMR ***.

Thanks

Angela

Measles Introduction - Health encyclopaedia - NHS Direct

Thank you for the link

To be honest i'm not sure if hes got measles and hope to god he doesn't . I'l take him back to the doctors on Monday if hes not better, I may just be over reacting because he hasn't had his ***.

I keep looking to see if he has a rash.

Thanks

Angela

Take him to your local pharmacist, they know more than what you realise they may be able to help.

good luck xx

Well, I did when I was a kid, so did my hubby, and lots of our friends . . . please don't panic, we're all fine! You don't hear of it much now because around 75% (I believe) of kids have had the MMR *** but as I remember it, I couldn't stand looking at the light, that was one of the early signs. I think Koplik (sp?) spots inside the mouth are a giveaway sign, so have a peep in there too maybe.

We chose for our kids not to have the MMR *** too, my two are 8 & 10, no signs of anything yet but we'll have to wait and see.

Hope whatever he's got that he's better soon. xx

My daughter has the measles *** and then a few weeks later had measles. It was her temp that was the worry. If he does have a high temp, try to get it down by keeping him cool, light clothing, sponging, etc.

Hope he didn't have them and is feeling better now. xx

Hi Geeks

Thank you for all your advice, He seems a lot better today, hopefully going back to school tommorow.

Just need to feed him up today as he hasn't been eating for the last two weeks.

His temperature seems ok today, and no sign of measles. :)

Thank You

Angela

I think there is a high temperaure virus doing the rounds - certainly here in Suffolk.

My friends little boy had a high temp last week, a client cancelled her appointment this am 'cause her son has one and to boot, my 3 yr old daughter had a really high temp last night and is still peaky today.

Hope shes ok, My son has been ill with a temperature since Mothers day. But he's finally recovered today. So back to school tomorow, (yipee).

I hate seeing children ill, it makes me really panicky, especially if it's just out of the blue.

Glad to hear he's feeling better now. My youngest is six and we had the dilemma of whether to give him the MMR *** or not.
We decided against it but as Measles can be very serious, even kills from time to time, we chose to pay for the single vacinations. Each one given 6 months apart.
I know you think you were doing the best thing for your child, but to not give him any protection from a disease that can kill or cause brain damage is foolhardy.
Please look into single vaccinations for your son. You've been lucky this time, but so many people are not vaccinating their children and measles is on the increase.

Hope for your childs sake its not the measles it is a nasty disease.

When he is better you should go see if he is still young enough to have the MMR.

My friends mother caught measles from a child when she was pregnant and my friend was born with epilepsy.

That scientist that linked MMR with autism ought to be strung up and quartered. He has caused so much anxiety to so many people, and brought back diseases that had been eradicated in this country and others.

Sorry this makes me so angry.

I hope your little boy is feeling better soon.

Hi and thanks for all your replies.

It's such a hard descision to make, I do want him to have it but seperatley, Its just finding a clinic in west yorkshire.

You fear if you give them it and fear if you dont. Im constantly anxious about it and will be till hes had his jabs.

thanks

Angela
