Which range did you train with at college ? Im interested as more colleges seem to be getting uptodate ranges (finally) but when I first started college it was unheard of to have a big name eg, Dermalogica.

The first college I went to used Susan Molyneux & Matis. The second Susan Molyneux again :irked: Then when i left they upgraded to Thalgo (typical)

Do you like the products you trained with ? I hated SM with a passion until recently, I now quite like some of the products although I wouldn't choose them to stock in the salon. I love Matis though have always wanted to use their products but the minimum order is to high for me at the moment

So what range did you train with ?

i trained with natures way

i love the products and they smell lovely

we trained with nature's way....... the pits!

Natures way and Salon Systems Chi facial ranges for Level 2.

We are now using Susan Molyneaux with our facial electrics for Level 3.

I have seen a few Dermalogica bits and pieces around, so perhaps they used it before I started!

Hi ya.

Yep the college im going to in september use Dermalogica! I was well impressed thats what we'll be training with! :green:

The college I attend uses Dermalogica for level 2 and Eve Taylor for level 3.

I trained with salon systems chi facials and natures way,the absolute pits of the pits IMO.
The lecturers and i had a few good rows believe me...there i was just come back from France with the premium brands and to be subjected to that!

They now use Dermalogica, which would probably be heaven for the students there now...actually im absolutely loving the multi active toner from them and the skin hydrating mask....god thats coming with me the next time i fly back to France....:green:

many colleges now will have two brands. the first one will be a budget range from a mail order company that the students use for the first couple of months, then a premium brand, quite often dermalogica (they give fab college support)that is used when they are treating clients. the reason for this is when students first start the course (mainly the younger ones) they are very generous with product, and are unaware of how expensive the products are. (many of them think an eyebrow wax really is £2 in the real world!).
I think its great that colleges now use the premium brands, it equips the students with real product knowledge, and hopefully an apprieciation of good skincare products.
When i was at college we used budget brands  but thankfully things have changed now.

We used Skin Truth facial range for the majority of facial products and we were allowed to do the assessments with RVB if the client was willing to pay more!

we used the solutions from hive range, it was ok but nothing to write home about.

and were they?

and were they?

Yes they were because once they had a facial with the skin truth range they were not impressed so always went for the alternative - I would always persuade them to go for the RVB anyway as it was a far superior product!

We used Dermalogica and found their products nice to work with. This college now uses Babor.

Thanks for all your comments.

Im suprised so many colleges used a wholesaler range, eg Skin Truth, Hive etc

I guess it depends on the colleges budget & image that determines which brand they can use ? The college I went to only charged £1 for assessments so they were loosing money if anything

at the college i went to, we used precious professional by ellisons to practice with etc. but we also had dermalogica for more "specialised" facials.

We used AHAVA products in college....MMMM OK but not my first preference.

Now we use [ in salon & mobile ] the Natalie Skin care systems & am loving it.... Clients tooo!

We used RVB at college. They are ok to use but we only had the basic products not the advanced ones. They use the products at a really good salon down the road from me (part owned with ex vidal sasoon hair dressers) and they have everything from collagen eye patches to a thermal mask.

Hi,

I'm currently doing NVQ2, we have Natures Way and Dermalogica. We obviously couldnt start using Dermalogica until we had our training. Natures Way I cannot stand and I love Dermalogica and really want to use the products myself but am very broke!

We used a very very cheap range when I was doing my course at college. I think the problem is that when you start training, you have no idea how much difference there is in quality between the different brands. I really hope all colleges start training students in proper skincare, not just the basics.
