Do you acknowledge rep when its given to you?

I hardly ever check my rep. No particular reason, it's just not something that occurs to me every time I'm on the site. I just checked it today and there's a couple on there, so I've thanked the people who left it, but some of them were left quite a while ago.

What do you do? Do you check it regularly just in case? If you leave rep and someone doesnt acknowledge it do you consider them to be ignorant? I would hate for someone to think I'm ignorant for not responding to rep, I just dont see it for a while that's all.

I check mine semi-regularly. I didn't know (or think to) acknowledge rep given until someone had acknowledged rep I had given. Now I do it all the time.

If someone doesn't acknowledge rep I have given, I figure they just don't know that they can.

The other thing about rep is when I first joined, I didn't know about giving rep. I've since learned and have gone back ages to rep some really good suggestions I have received over the months. :hug:

To be honest for a long time I didn't know about rep and when I did find out some people had repped me and I felt ignorant that I had not thanked them, so even though it was from ages back I still thanked them and explained the delay in thanking. I still don't check it that often, but I think it does alert you if you recieve rep. I don't expect a thank you for rep, but its nicely recieved if I do.

When I rep geeks and they don't acknowledge it, I assume it's because they haven't checked theirs.

Having never really delved very much into what this wonderful site offers, I didn't realise until recently that I could actually see me rep.

So for all those who have repped me in the past a very big thank you. Those that have repped more recently, I think I have thanked, if I haven't apologies and thanks.

I do check it regularly now as it is nice to see when something you have added to a post has been of use.

As you only seee the last 5 reps you received it is possible to have missed one if you haven't checked in ages. So I wouldn't lose any sleep if you haven't managed a Thanks in time.

You used to be able to see the last 5 people you had repped as well, and that was great.
I must admit I can forget who I have repped sometimes, and what comments I have made, and may end up repeating myself!!

I didn't really 'get' reps, but it does make sense, to be able to applaud someone when they have said something good and you dont want to clog up the system on the forum.

I've got nearly 1000 so must be doing something right.

I started thanking people for their reps when I got thanked by people, it had not occurred to me before that.

I only check my reps about once a month, I just forget to do it.

I give rep when I feel the info given is excellent and/or informative and mega helpful. It doesn't bother me if no thanks is given because I know that peeps don't always look at rep they've received.
You can only see the last 5 reps given so if you've received more than that and not checked then you won't know who's given it to you.

I usually click on UserCP to see which threads I'm subscribed to have new posts so I catch sight of my rep daily :wink2:

I check while i am on and do try to remember to say thank you but have forgot at times...and then end up doing it weeks after.

To be honest if people don't say thank you after I have repped them i never hold it against them..in fact i never even think about it...so guys if you forget, i wouldn't worry to much. x
