Hi all my client said something funny to me today so i thought i would share it with you. She said that she didnt want her eyebrows waxed because the pulling ages the eye area. Has anyone ever heard of this because i real;ly dont beleive this.

I guess the reasoning behind this is the pulling on the skin.I would say if performed properly it is probably less likely to age the skin than Plucking.Plucking has to be performed every few days ,waxing every few weeks.
If you support the skin well and do not have the wax too warm i do not think it would.

If you apply oil, this will stop that for sure. xxx

I've heard that one too. I explained about supporting the skin etc and she was quite happy after that to have it done.

when we were doing this at college one of our students said she didnt want her eyebrows doing because she'd heard that it weakens the obicularis occuli muscle surrounding the eye! and our tutor didnt actually dissagree with her (if it wasn't done right):irked:

I guess its because of the puling again!

I can see how it is possible to affect the skin covering the obicularis occuli but it surely can not affect the muscle itself!

It could happen but only in very extreme circumstances and inexperienced basically useless therpaist. I once had my eyebrows waxed while at a golfing weekend with my husband and while he was off golfing i spent the day at the spa, and came out with a black eye and eyebrows not really very different to before the waxing. As i say this was extreme and the only time in nearly 30 years in the industry that anything like this has ever happened. So not totally imposible but highly improbable!!!!

I heard this spouted by Clarins employees when I once went for EBW. They state they do no facial waxing whatsoever as it is so damaging and aging to the skin!!!! Oh well, keep passing me your unwanted clients Clarins. Many thanks.

Hi there

HM well to put the cat among the pigeons here.......... speaking from personal experience i don't have my eye brows waxed underneath, as after having them waxed for about 5 years i noticed my skin was getting tissue thin!

I did find this pretty scary so i stopped having them waxed it has taken years (about 7!) for the skin to return to normal, so its tweezing for me. However i have the middle waxed every so often with no noticeable damage so it could just be me being a delicate flower

I have never had a client complain though.

I've got to admit I have wondered about this as the skin seems looser since having my eyebrows waxed.....then again it could just be my age:cry:

I only tweeze my clients except in between the brows.

I really dont think this is possiby. A woman my boss used to work for said it to her clients because she didnt feel confident doing eyebrow waxing. To be perfectly honest does ageing affect the lip and chin area? Or any other part that people get waxed. I have lots of clients that I have waxed for many years and i have never noticed any changes that aint normal in their skin.

If you use hot wax and apply oil to the area first this surely reduces the amount of 'pull' on the skin and so we could reassure any clients who are concerned, by using this method.
