I was just reading through another thread where someone said "don't judge a book by it's cover", and it got me thinking.

Next time you are by the coast, or go to the post office, and you see that little old lady, shuffling along with her husband, white hair, all wrinkled, arm in arm, don't think, "ahh, bless", think "that could be the people in the video I saw on Salon Geek the other day"

YouTube - Lindy Hop - Hellzapoppin (1941)

These people would be about 90 now:eek:

Wicked babes..great clip..xx

WOW!!! dont see dancing like that nowadays eh!
xx

So true, fab link, I always brought up to treat my elders with respect, my dad always used to say you never know what that person has contributed to our society in their lifetime. That is always in the back of my mind and the advert on the tv at the moment about treating our older generation with respect says it all.

Actually, you do at the events I go to! The dance is lindy hop, I go to regular classes, unfortunately I'm not at the level of those guys, never will be (I weigh probably 1/2 as much again as them so I'm not as quick or light) But some of the dancers at the events, OMG they are brilliant.

Lindy Hop is very popular and growing all the time. I LOVE IT:green::green:

Good clip, they still do that nowadays...it's brilliant
My dad was a teddyboy in the 50's and did that jive dancing

Great clip!!!!

And I love elderly people...they have wisdom....stories...history!!!!

They have lived in times I haven't and being a lover of anything pre-dating the 60's it fascinates me....

Sometimes it is too easy to forget that the elderly couple walking along holding hands were once a youthful couple....dancing the lindy hop like lunatics!!!!!

So true and not only for the funky couple in your link but for everyone! How many times have you been surprised by a person of by something the person does so unexpectantly?

I think a lot of people are a lot "deeper" and have a lot more shades to them than you think .....

Funny how old sayings are still so true nowadays - just a shame people forget....

Just to go off slightly did you ever have a really annoying client who was so picky that you wondered why they came to you? Some act real snobby, others tell you what to do..........
The girls have a few like that and I told them to ride it out as some of best clients started like that - they wanted to be pleased and when you please them they stop.
I try not to judge a book by its cover as I find I'm quite complex myself :o

As the saying goes "never judge a book by it's cover as you'll be suprised at it's contents"
