Is it me or are facials not as popular as they used to be?

I took on Eve Taylor range last October and was really excited to get going with the new facial range. I did a couple of days training on how to use the products but I am finding that my facial treatments have died a complete death.

I don't think I have done a facial in over 3 months... busy with other treatments but facials has fizzled out.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just my clients that are not intereseted? Maybe its seasonal.. I did do quite a few between November and March but then nothing... I will be nervous about doing one if someone booked in tomorrow having forgot a lot of the product knowledge sigh!!!

I'm doing the same amount as normal, I do about 1 a week so no great shakes.

I tend to do two or three facials a day! Perhaps your enthusiasm has wained? I find straight after a course I really sell that product/treatment & then tail off, so I try to make a concerted effort to stay enthusiastic, but as facials are my favourite treatment I have no problem selling them!

Facials have never been a popular service for me and that is why I haven't invested heavily in any product. I do two/three a month and it did used to be my favourite treatment to perform but not now.

i've dropped them off my service menu, in fact now im only nails and waxing (and tinting)

Just my opinion but if you havent got....dermalogica, decleor, guinot,.......etc,etc you cant compete

I don't do many facials, maybe I don't push it enough, I don't know. But I wish that I could do a couple a day because they are my favourite treatment.

Not sure that I agree with you there Amber, although I see where you are coming from. The clients that I used to give facials to didnt really want a specific treatment facial but more of a relaxing facial. They all noticed and liked the change over when I made it.. its just they now have massage instead of facials.. I havent lost the clients.. its just they only have so much money to spend I guess ..? I don't want to take it off my menu yet though as I do enjoy doing them.

Maybe a promotion to push them for the autumn might see an interest again. They are not my favourate treatment but I do quite like doing them. Just a lot of setting up involved sigh!

I would be happy doing one a week just so I remember what to do and why I do it lol!

I'm not a skin geek, but as a consumer...
I only ever book in for facials! I go to an espa salon locally, and have never booked anything other than a facial (I do go for waxing but with somebody else that I have always gone to). I love love love facials, I can never relax (unless I am asleep and then I am constantly fidgeting) and facials do the trick every single time for me! I've had all sorts too, relaxing, rebalancing, skin brightening, and I feel so wonderful every single time.
:D

Jen....I love a facial...do you work mobile??
If so you got a client.
Do you sqeeze blackheads?:)
Or those things that look like little bumps on your face when you look in the light?? Not bh but bumpy things that need sqeezing?
Comodores or something?

Facials have seemed to have fizzled out a bit i notice i only get one every twice a month...i agree with minkus you need to have the more recongnised treatments that clients are familar with ..i think i need to update on another brand,i'm using salon systems chi at the moment.

blackheads\comedones

Oh sorry Judy I don't do any mobile ... but I do extract comedones and millia if necessary :)

Maybe I am wrong then... but if it the case and clients are staying away from facials due to the brand I use then it will have to be .. there is no way I want to invest in a spa brand to use in my home salon... oh humm..

But on a brighter note.. I have had a facial booked in for next Monday afternoon.. lol!!!

Just out of interest how did you like the Eve Taylor products and did they give good results?

I love the Eve Taylor products but to be honest all I have seen is a brightened complexsion as on the whole the clients who had the facials were just having them for relaxation and didnt really let me know how their complexsion faired with the products.

My daughter on the other hand has a very oily skin with lots of large open pores and she has been using the range since Christmas (she got a set in her xmas stocking) and loves it... has bought replacements since and she said her skin feels much less congested and looks brighter.

I have a very dehydrated complexsion... and it certainly helps with my skin to stop it getting totally crock like.

:)

Facials are still as popular as ever for me, probably more so! Friday every client was a facial 9.30am till 9 pm, except 2 spray tans! I do at least 14 facials a week. I do have lots of promotions on facials though, ie book a course of 5 save 20%, book 6 of my top end facial and receive a free skincare kit etc. Maybe a "treatment of the month" type promotion may help? Maybe even basing it around "prepare your skin for the sun" type of thing. hth:hug:

Well for us, facials have picked up quite considerably in the last 3-4 months.

It's probably because we've included mini facials (cleanse, tone, exfoliate, mask, hand & arm massage while mask on) in most of our recent monthly special promotions.

Clients have been so impressed with results just from a mini facial they've gone on to book a full facial. Some are now on their 2nd or 3rd one :)

I don't think it matters that you have a high profile, premium & therefore very expensive product range. If it's properly professional (ie not wholesale) & works, then people will book in for them. (To be high profile with a big advertising budget costs a lot of money & somebody has to pay)

It's down to you as a therapist to market & promote the treatments, and not necessarily facials, to the clients, otherwise you could well end up with a stack of clients who only ever have a lip or eyebrow wax (ie not spend much).

By doing regular monthly promos I've converted lots of clients from about £15 a month to approx £40-50 per month :)

Truth be told, if it wasn't for our monthly promos we probably wouldn't do half the treatments we offer on our price list. It would get pretty boring doing waxing all day long

Relaxing Facials YES... they're dying.

Doing Facials NO.... they're thriving.

I took on Decleor when I took over my salon. BEAUTIFUL products and I love them, but what I've found people really want to see are DOING facials like Microdermabrasion. Clients come out gobsmacked at the immediate differences and actually feel like something has been done.

I think that's the world we live in today, a lot of people haven't got time to be sitting down and relaxing for an hour (I wish I did), they want to know that the hour has been well spent and they can see a difference.

I'm all microdermabrasioned out at the moment!

Millia!! that's what it's called!
Why do I keep getting them on the top area of my cheeks?
You see them in the light at an angle and they really get on my nerves and when I squeeze them they eventually come back.
Could it be because I use eye cream a bit too liberally or the wrong moisturiser?
Sorry should be a new thread maybe but would appreciate any advice.

i know one cause off milia can be due to dryness and often occur around eye area due to synthetic colors in eyeshadows, eg high shine glittery ones

i still get a good few facials but i think in my case the people more so come for the pampering aspect they just fall asleep and enjoy it all, i use dermalogica but because i have noticed this a lot in my clients that they dont mind so much that im using dermalogica they just love my massage etc im thinking off switching to a cheaper brand not too cheap but something more reasonably priced than dermalogica but yet have good results, maybe eve taylor have been thinking and getting samples off brands
