Hi Geeks,
Do any of you have any tips or advice on how to get nail polish to last longer?
I do my basecoat, 2 coats of colour, followed by topcoat and quickdry spray.
The products I use are Toma,Sparitual and China Glaze polishes.
I've read that some geeks can their polish to last for weeks!!!!! Please tell me how!!
Thanks so much,xxx

Maybe you are not using the best varnishes and or topcoat/basecoat. I use OPI and i have to say it last a couple of weeks.

The trick is to apply the layers thinly and not to rush to get the next coat on. I use O.P.I and it will last for at least 2 weeks on my fingers. Also make sure you squeak well xxx

It does depend a lot on the condition of your clients nails. If your client has dry flakey nails, then her enamel will flake off, so I buff the nail and use plenty of oil and rub it well into the nails (I use CND solar oil) and leave to soak into the nail for a few mins, then wipe with a non acetone remover.

I use CND stickey base coat or their ridge filler and two nice thin coats of enamel... this is the important part.. make sure the enamel is thin and do not touch the skin, so leave a very tiny margin.

Then CND super shiney top coat for that final layer that will leave a lovely glossy finish and your client should get at least a week before she needs to remove it.. HTH:hug:

I also use O.P.I and its brilliant, lasts ages and goes on smoother than a baby's bum. I have tried toma and noticed it didnt last that long on me. I know O.P.I is more expensive than others but its soooo worth it.

Buy 1 and try it, you will notice the difference xx

I'm a big fan of OPI too and love their french pinks.. they last for ages

Hi,

I use CND basecoats, polish's and topcoats which always last a good couple of weeks. First i gently buff the shine off the nail plate then use scrubfresh to cleanse the nail before applying thin coats of basecoat, 2 coats of polish and my top coat. I tend to seal the end of the nail with topcoat to avoid it chipping off to easily too.

Hope this helps :)

how long do you normally get of the polishes are they chipping within days or do you have unrealistic expectations, clients lifestyle job etc can contribute to this, i have now started using opi polishes also and love them

I ue OPI polihe, bae and top coats too. Make sure that the nail plate is totally free of and oil, a polish remover won't necessarily do the job thoroughly enough so invest in a product specific for the job. I'm sure you know that it's thin coats for each layer, but do try out some other brands and trial them all.

For me it is all about the base coat, you want one that will get the polish to ADHERE to it...and the only 2 that have worked for me isOPI nail envy original formula, and stickey from CND:)
