Long time lurker ladies. Did a full leg on a lovely girl today who was covered ankle to lower back with soft black hair. Pulled nicely and she was a vet. But as the hair went on and on, I felt compelled to go on and on too --Much to the dismay of my back! How much is too much? and I have heard that there is a way to 'fade' the growth with waxing so there isn't such a 'hair-no hair' hard line (read about it, never needed to know it before, forgot it). Advice here is so good and you are all so helpful! I am sure I will have more in the future. P.S. New to the whole thing but Love Waxing!

Welcome from your lurking status.

I take it you mean a full leg WAX?!?!?!

If so I know what you mean about where do you stop, but in cases like this I normally try and persuade the client to have a bikini wax as well as a leg wax and they normally agree when you explain why.

If you want to taper the hair fade with strip wax one way it can be done (but I am no expert) is to use a strip that you have just used on that client (so it has some wax on) and instead of putting the strip on with the hair growth and removing against, put the strip on and remove in the SAME direction as the hair growth so not all of the hair but some of it will be removed and therefore will appear less obvious in that area so it makes a tapered effect from total hair removed area to the thicker hair.

I hope that makes sense but there are more experienced waxers on here than me that can give you better solutions.

Hi just a big welcome to the site. hope your back gets better lol. xx

To fade you can either rub your used strip down hard where you want the fade as this will pick up some hairs and thin out the area or you can just put very small thin random strips of wax getting less and less as you go up
Hope you understand its a bit difficult to explain.
Maybe she would like all the rest of but is a bit embarrased to ask as its not on your menu.Maybe ask her if she would like you to do that and tell her how much it would cost while she is on the couch.
In a matter of fact way say would you like me to take off everything,i can do that for you and it will be whatever, maybe charge the same as for a half leg if we are talking buttocks and stomach.

when I'm not sure how far to go, I usually ask the client and show them what I have done so far and let them tell me how lead in this instance, :)

All good advice and using the old strip was the way to fade that I read about and then forgot. I'm sure that takes some finesse but sounds like it would do the trick. Many more questions in the future I am sure. You girls are amazingly giving with your knowledge!

Totally agree with the fading. I know what you mean though. My guess is that when you got to the top of the leg at the side, where it goes up to the hip, you didn't want to leave a straight line. Tes, you must always fade.

i string the wax to get a fade. like how they make spun sugar decoration on desserts lol.

Stringing is a great idea! I even talked to her about stringing (I'm no expert, but can do it on my own eyebrows) but never thought about stringing on the body!

Kim, you are exactly right about when I started thinking 'how far is too far?' I had reached a point where I was placing the poor girl in increasingly uncomfortable positions so the skin could be best pulled. She was such a trooper. I hope she returns, cause now I have secret weapons thanks to everyone here. :)

you meant stringing the wax as in using little bits of strips to fade...... I think I am starting to get it. So hard without a visual sometimes! Sorry for that!

Take a clean strip and on the bottom half, dab wax over it so there are gaps. Then fold it upwards so som of the wax sticks further up the strip. Then unfold it and wax over the hair that you want to blend. It thins it out without creating a line. xx
