Hi I'm new on here! I'm a fully qual Beauty Therapist ITEC trained but I never did Nail Extensions at college and have decided to do it now while things are quiet.

I've just ordered Essential Nails course in the Gel System and wondered if anyone else has done this and if they continued to use the EN gel products when they qualified or if they have gone onto use another supplier.

I was thinking about using either Brisa or IBD? Would I have to do a conversion to use these products or will I be able to buy them without doing their course?

Thanks for reading this, I am really excited about nails!!

Hi.
I also did the EN gel course. I found gel much harder to master than acrylic, but I really enjoyed the course. I have just started a Home salon and mobile business using the dream products. I have heard that there are better products out there, but I am still learning.

Good luck with the course and if you need any help, everyone will help you on here and Sarah at EN is really helpful.

You will see many many threads on here about home learning courses.

They are OK if this is the only way you are able to train at the start. But they are only the beginning! You MUST do hours and hours of practice on REAL people and preferably with some knowlefgeable feedback on your techniques.

Working on a plastic hand does not prepare you to work on paying clients (would you feel qualified if you had only carried out facials on a rubber face imagining the various skin conditions and imaging an answer to "what products do you usually use?" and "is this pressure OK for you?")

This is very true (I have the EN acrylic course) but once you know what your doing though, you can always practise on yourself, and maybe your mum or sister etc but definatly not on the general public without insurance! This way at least you will get a feel for what it's like working on "real" people and not the plastic hand.

Hi, I did the home learning course, it was good however I then went on to train with NSI and found the products they used much better that the Dream products you get with EN :)

hi this was how I started, it was ok but I ended up paying the same money for a course with a proper company so in the end I paid twice!! Definately go for a company lke EzFlow or Creative, they have the best technicians working for them, they are constantly developing new products and technologies. You dont even learn to do a french nail with white gel with EN and if you want to do sculping or maintenance its more money for another course!! This would all be covered in a proper course....

I felt that me personally I wanted a trainer looking over my shoulder, to make sure that I didn't develop any bad habits.
Later on here, I found out that not all insurance companies will except en certificates and not all nail companies will allow you to do a conversion with them.
That said, they are very helpful on the phone, I used to do air brush art and used them for all my supplies for this and the service was first class.

You would not be able to purchase CND Brisa Gels without completing the CND foundation Course which included Brisa Gels.

CND do not accept the EN course certificate for Conversion simply for the reason that the EN course does not go far enough in their course for you to be on a par with the CND learning and as CND set the standards for their Technicians, you would need to reach that standard of knowledge before being able to convert.
