Hi Guys
I am worried that when I want to try and do my own nails after my CND Foundation course next year I am going to have real trouble doing my right hand with my left hand because I am right handed.
I know it should hopefully improve with practise but does anyone have any tips for this that would help me? Just looked on google and there are various suggestions for learning to use the other hand by using it doing everyday tasks like making a cup of tea or opening the garage/car door.
Thanks!

It is difficult to start off with. When I first qualified I used to get one hand done by another local tech.

When I started to do my 'wrong' hand, I followed a tip from people on here to do your 'wrong' hand first when you are freshest.

Don't worry, it does come in time HTH

We all find it hard to do our wrong hand hun so you will be in good company
yes practising to do other tasks with your wrong hand is a good idea but i would give making a hot drink a miss, this could prove dangerous,
when you have had your training come back and ask the same question or send me a PM and i will give you a really good tip to do your wrong hand that will make it 10 times easier

I have recently done myh left hand with my right hand and it didn't look too bad, I am naturally left handed butI learnt how to use my right hand whilst I fed my babies, that was a task in itself but I would agree with loubylou to practice doing things with your left hand first, have fun (like I did hehe haha) and good luck with your course

Hi All

I've recently qualified in Creative and am also struggling sometimes to do my "wrong" hand, although I agree that it is getting slightly easier with practice. LoubyLou, I'm really intrigued as to what your tip is? Can you share it with me please??!!

I always do my wrong hand first i find it sooo much easier when i did my first set on me they were awfull but now they are not to bad its like everything really practise make perfect:p

Hiya :)

I find that yes, doing my 'wrong' hand first is better, you seem to have more patience! Also make sure you are sitting correctly and lean both elbows on something so you are steady and if you have a nail trainer, these can prove invaluable if trying to do someting new/difficult, use your left hand to practice on that. Lastly, take your time. I know its easier said than done as the 3 minutes between getting it on your brush and the acrylic 'setting' doesn't sound like a lot of time, but the more you rush, the worse it will be.

Oh, and practise, practise, practise, lol!

HTH's

Thanks for all your advice everyone!
