Lol ;)

There is a few of us in Southampton, just a few junctions up from Portsmouth infact :)

Me and Virtues are obv THE reason to come to southampton lol

To All:

I may go to Southampton this year to visit some Geeks called Vix and Virtues. I will PM them with my arrival date. So if anyone wants to join me...tough luck!

MM I'm sorry and maybe you didn't mean that statement to sound quite as condescending and insulting as it came across in print BUT if a man said that to me I would punch his lights out ....seriously it's enough to have men using bitchy statements like that to put us down...lets leave it to them ...what happened to sisterhood! :wink2::wink2::wink2:

Well I'm sorry but fancy being so condescending in the first place by laying down the law on a power trip when it really wasn't necessary. We're not 12!

Perhaps you should have PM'd me that message as its not allowed. Read RULE 7.

Right, that's enough!
(And I'm not a Mod, just very bossy :wink2:)

I have made many true friends here on SalonGeek over the years.
Probably too many to mention, and I have hardly met any of them.

One I have met, initially showing some Geek solidarity and support at the Open Night of her new Beauty Business which was not far from me was Martigirl. She isn't here much these days (too busy running aforementioned successful business) but she has remained a true friend to me, particularly in recent hard times. She is also a fantastic therapist something my skin will attest to from my wonderful monthly facials.

Right from the start Naturalnails and I have had a rapport, who knew I too would end up a Moderator as she went on to be the all powerful Admin!

Kimmi Rocks now the very proper and posh sounding Kim Lawless, whom I really must make the effort to meet when she is next up over the border here in Scotland as she has been a wonderful, supportive, and magnificent friend.

I do think the Blogs were responsible for a lot of the friends I have on here, Rinn, Dandelionpoppy, Chickafish and too many to mention. Cliqueish? Possibly but in the best sense of the word, a friendly group of people who only wanted to help and support each other....whilst having a good laugh.

All my geeky buddies, I thank you, and to quote Hughie Green....I mean this most sincerely folks....I wouldn't still be here without you

Going to put it out there.
Do you think it is particularly fair for mods and admins to declare "true friendship" to members of the forum. You could now be accused of showing favouritism when trying to break up the little spats which often occur. Surly mods and admin should be completely impartial.
I am not saying this to make a point, or derail a conversation/topic or cause qn argument. I am certainly not having a go at you Izzidoll but am interested to see how you and others feel about this?

I have made a few true friends prior to comming in here, via facebook, who recommended I come on here.. that makes more sense in my head..

Very valid point made by Nearly Me although she said she wasn't making one.

I get frightened that because I am not one of the favourite ones I will get in trouble and banned if I try to make a point, it may be reported as bullying and then favour will be taken with the ones closest to the mods/admins.
Pretty sure I can't be alone in this?

No I absolutely don't see anything wrong with my post naming just a few of the wonderful geeks who have been a tower of strength to me in recent times.
I know I am impartial to a fault, and if one of them broke a rule I would deal with it, and they would completely understand. I know because it has happened ;)

I deal with everything on its merits, then it is a clean slate.
That is the only way to stay sane as a Mod on here.
I can Pm a warning to someone in the morning and heart one of their posts in the afternoon.
I don't see anything contradictory in that.

You do a very good job being a mod on here, I couldn't do it :) xx

It's the same as everything in life, you learn from your mistakes.
I am now aware as far as modding goes less is more.....but lets get back on topic and the friendships formed on here. (I'd say you were now on my list but I don't want to show favouritism  )

I am not negating your ability as a mod. I am asking if it is wise for a mod to have open "friendships" when they could be accused of favouritism?

I have felt that way on other forums, where it would become apparent after a short time who was "friends" with the mods, but I can say that I have never felt like that here and from what I have observed, the mods here are as impartial as they should be.

It can be quite a difficult job, I'm sure! I would not be able to do it. I think we are very lucky.

As a mod I get accused of favouritism all the time, and it has never been about anyone mentioned on this thread, and it has never been true.
I am human and not infallible, that is why there is a team of Moderators and tricky situations get discussed and majority rules. If I felt I couldn't be impartial I would abstain from any decision to be made.
But enough of the inner workings of Mod Squad...have you no true friends to mention on here Nearlyme?

When you say "true friends" do you mean the Internet ones you've never met in real life or do you mean people on here who you socialise with? My true friends are people I socialise with at home. The people I chat to on here are lovely but I've never met them and for all I know they could be parading around with a beard and beer belly.

I have freinds who have accounts, one of my best friends is a geek but I also work with her so not sure that counts
