When you say "true friends" do you mean the Internet ones you've never met in real life or do you mean people on here who you socialise with? My true friends are people I socialise with at home. The people I chat to on here are lovely but I've never met them and for all I know they could be parading around with a beard and beer belly.

Your making some cracking responses tonight 😂😂very true all the same x

Just trying to get back on topic as per the title of the thread.....

If people can meet and fall in love with their husband/wife online then why cant you fall into friendship with them too?

I am not negating your ability as a mod. I am asking if it is wise for a mod to have open "friendships" when they could be accused of favouritism?

I guess it's like working and being friends with the boss!
Nothing wrong with that, were all grown ups with the same interests, I've never felt favoritism, I just try to treat everyone on here the way I like to be treated wether they are mods, new geeks or old geeks. :) xx

That's how I always sit. Maybe that is why I have no friends

Going to put it out there.
Do you think it is particularly fair for mods and admins to declare "true friendship" to members of the forum. You could now be accused of showing favouritism when trying to break up the little spats which often occur. Surly mods and admin should be completely impartial.
I am not saying this to make a point, or derail a conversation/topic or cause qn argument. I am certainly not having a go at you Izzidoll but am interested to see how you and others feel about this?

I have made a few true friends prior to comming in here, via facebook, who recommended I come on here.. that makes more sense in my head..

It's an extremely perceptive comment. Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'll be pals with you Nearlyme, we can be lonely little hair geeks on here together.

In terms of 'true friends' on here, well, it's an Internet forum, nothing more, nothing less. One of many that I'm a regular on. Given the strange moderation rules on here at times, I don't think for one moment any of us can really be ourselves enough to build friendships. I have to hide three quarters of the aspects of my life that make me 'me' on here, so cannot really build real relationships. Most of you have no idea how I actually even make my living for a start.

I'm going to ignore some of the post on this thread and get back to topic!! I have met many geeks in persona from here, some at the event last year and some over coffee or the meet I organised recently !! Lots of the geeks I would now call my friends and chat to them regularly on fb or by text ......one geek I speak to pretty much daily,we give each other advice, chat about work, clients etc, send pics of nails and she has got me through some tough months( you know who you are!!)

Next week I am meeting up with two more geeks for dinner and looking forward to that

If anyone is interested the next meet will be Milton Keynes probably and I'm looking at October. Xx

I have enjoyed some of the geeks on here and have only a close few who I would pm now and then, but I haven't met any of them. I have always liked to remain anonymous, apart from the couple of days where I felt it only fair to change my avatar, showing the real me, even if I was still trying to hide behind my Westie dog:biggrin:. At times I love a bit of banter and enjoy threads getting a bit heated, but not when it gets NASTY! That's when people start to get hurt! I have been hurt on here in the past and it is not a nice experience! The times I enjoy MOST are when some of you lot make me LAUGH soooooo much and there has been a lot of that over the last 6 months. Some of you girls are very funny indeed and really make the Chit Chat Forum worth visiting, so keep it up!

As for the Mods!! I could never do their job! It must be very difficult indeed! I too have had the odd slap from them, but when I reflect, I know I deserve it and am more than willing to apologise.

I don't have any friends from here yet :( but I haven't been a member very long. I do though have a huge amount of respect and admiration for the geeks on here and when I joined I was amazed at the sheer amount of knowledge and information I could get from one site . SalonGeek is awesome :D

Sorry, but I think posts like this one really don't contribute to a nice atmosphere on here. Why didn't you send it in a PM?
