Hi all!

I'm soon going to be set up in a small room in a hairdressers which has mainly male clientele. I'm going to do a few beauty treatments but the main one is going to be waxing, and I think lots of the clients will be male.

Will I need a more heavy duty massage couch? If so, can you reccommend one? The owner of the salon will be buying it, and he's rather careful with money, but obviously I need one that's up to the job!

Thanks

Hi,
most couches seem to take approximately 20 stone of weight, so unless you are likely to have very big men in, I'd have thought any decent couch would be ideal.
I got mine from the un-mentionable auction site of badness, & it cost me approx £60.
I love my couch, it makes me happy.

I got mine from Therapy 2000, Welcome to Therapy 2000
They have a clearance and offers section, mine had been used once during the London Marathon and was reduced from £250 to £99 my hubby is a big man and so is my daughters fella and they both said its a very comfortable couch and it didn't have any probs taking their weight.

I always urge people to be very careful when choosing a massage table!!

This is what your client is going to be lying on for the whole duration of a treatment - maybe even several hours! If they aren't comfortable they aren't going to want to come back.

I have an Earthlite table that cost me not far off £300 ... I won't have any other table now!!

Some things to bare in mind:

1. It must be height adjustable
2. It must be well padded and comfortable to lie on
3. It must feel solid when the client lies on, turns over, moves about etc

I could never buy a massage table without trying it out! Otherwise how would you know the answer to these questions?

If it is to be used in a salon treatment room then you don't need to look at a lightweight table. Personally I don't like them that much because they don't look / feel sturdy to me.
