That is a really pretty effect! I'm sure most geeks will know how you achieved it but I don't! Also is mylar the little "bits"? I'm gonna guess you sprinkled them on and then did a layer of something over the top...? Thanks! x

They are FAB! very pretty!

Hi Angela,
I just love pink and silver together! They look really pretty! I'm sooo inspired by all of the talent on this board. :green:
Great job,
Lisa

Sorry should have said
I put the glitter on first then faded it down towards cuticle then before the acrylic set i put some of the mylar on top. Afterwards I put sheer pink (nsi) over the top filed and shaped to end result

Thanks

Lovely. Very pretty colours x

They look really nice but why is the skin around the nails red?? They look swollen!

It looks really cool, nice work !!

What a shame, your nails should be the example that inspires new clients and admiration from your peers.

I'm sorry, I cannot agree with the other 'kind' posters who always tell every single person their work is 'Fab' and 'so pretty' etc etc when really it is not.

I'm not into nail art so that side of things I will not comment on, but the nails you have put the 'art' on in my opinion need allot of work if they are going to be pretty and to actually enhance your hands and fingers.

I am not trying to be cruel, I am being honest and it would be better for everyone on this site if others were honest in return when they post how gorgeous something is when it is not. It does not help the technician who is seeking critique (I assume).

I agree with Geeg that it is a little annoying when lots of comments come up saying how great a persons work is.

Altho i think the criticism should be constructive and hepful.

Maybe Geeg could expand on why the nails are not up to scratch.

Well done. I think they would have complemented you better though if they were a tad shorter. Where the mylar is just looks a little too top heavy.

I'm not going to comment on the nails at all, because just lately I find my self having a confidence issue, I like what you've done but what I want to comment on is
Very well done on the photo lovely focus nice and crisp,
What camera have you used including the model as well as make and what settings did you have it on
I ask because all to often its not possible to really see a techs work because the photo is not very well taken.
Thanks hun:hug::hug:

With Guilty's permission and if she does not mind us discussing her work .....

You tell me, Marion, where you think they could do with improvement and then I'll tell you. Lets see if you can see it yourself. Because if you as the nail technician cannot see the faults then we're in trouble.

Hi,

I have to say that i do think that this piece of work is a good alround first attempt. However i do have a few comments. These comments are constructive and hope they help. i have read your profile and you mention that you regard yourself as very much a beginner and you welcome any comments so here are mine.

1) Your nails look very red at the cuticle ( i would imagine from excessive filing) you need to be very careful here as not to permanently damage them also the cuticle and surrounding area must be sore... i know as a new tec it is very hard to get people to practice on so i would recommend investing in a training hand ( they are very helpful), also have a look at the grit of file you are using it may be way to harsh... if you have done the CND conversion then i would not expect to see this amount of damage if correct files and prep are used.

2) In relation to the overall look of the nail it does look bulky and nails not very straight also length needs to be looked at as does not really compliment what you are trying to achieve ( that all said) i assume you have picked the length so you had plenty of room to experiment, also working with mylar for the first time is very hard to judge the amount that should be applied ( this making for the bulk), also working with a glitter fade at the same time also adds to the bulk and final shape.

I would advise maybe working with one medium either glitter fade or mylar until you are producing work you are happy with then add the second medium... this is where the hand would come in you can keep the nails that you create and compare them.. be as critical as you can be this will make you improve leaps and bounds....

Practice makes perfect... But good effort and idea.
HTH.

I do know the grits of files and what not to use but as this was my first attempt I did put a little too much top cover over the mylar hense the over filing. I normally dont have this problem when doing clients nails it only seems to be mine due to the position of trying to get the work done.

I do appreciate critique as it can only make me better.

I do know my own faults ie bulky etc but this was my first attempt with the mylar.

Thanks for all the advice

Angela

Oh and my camera is just a sanyo xacti s1

The pics I posted were just after I finished them here is a pic of them now

I think the design of the nails is pretty you have used nice colours well done...but..

and as i said in another post i am not trying to be horrible i am just try to help.......

but they are really bulky hun there are 2 things you could do, either work on your application so that needs hardly any filing which is the best thing to do and also when you are filing make sure you look at the nail at EVERY angle inculing down the barrel of the nails then you will see where you have to file...

although nails don't look natural with nails art like this there is no reason why we shouldn't make the overall finish natural, in the photo you nails look bulky, it looks like you have put you apex too high.

i hope this helps you, don't get disheartened just work at it :green:

hi angela hows things?? i like the mylar hun ,i got mine through thanks to your helpful advice the glitter is nice too.. i can't comment on the structure of your nails as im not qualified as yet !! But you seem to have an eye for colour and texture which shows through in your work x:lol:
