Im thinking of adding this to my treatment menu. I know biters require much more maintenance so im looking for advice on this. Most of my clients are not biters, but if im able to help those who do have a biting problem then id like them to know I offer such a service.

How many offer a biters programme? How often do you require clients to come back for maintenance? xx

On my nail biter's programme, I assess each client individually but usually it means returning each week for a manicure and giving them home treatment.

Sorry for intruding on ya post :)
But i am a terrible nail biter and i would love to hear more about a nailer biting program im at the moment growing my nails ive lasted nearly two weeks without biting my nails except for one relapse on one nail but it really had an annoying little edge lol,
I've been carrying around a little nail file so if i felt a jaggered edge i would try and file it and not bite it , im too embaressed to go to and have them done but i am trying

Hi,

I too, have just started offering a 'nail biters' programme, as a service.
I got the idea from something I read in this months' Scratch magazine.
I don't know why it didn't occur to me before!!!
Anyway, I am offering set weekly manicures and some home care products, for a set price.
I think it's a great idea and will be good for business, as I have had a couple of nail biting clients, who love to have a manicure, but are not sure or confident enough to have a full set of enhancements, no matter how much I try to convince them!!
I think this sort of programme is just what they need, and will help to make other services available to them, more appealing! :green:

Of course!

I'm offering 2 types of programmes, depending on how bad the nails are, and what they want to achieve with their nails at the end.
Either to keep them natural, or to have a full set of enhancements, or whatever the client wants.

1) A course of 6 weekly standard manicures, with a pinkie bottle of SolarOil, a full size bottle of Toughen Up R, and a nail file of their choice (Of the ones that I retail).

2) A course of 10 weekly luxury manicures, with a 14.2ml bottle of SolarOil, a full size bottle of Toughen Up R, a nail file of their choice and a 3.5oz tub of SolarButter.

I hope that helps!

Yes
Thank you

Bite the bullet hun and go and have them done. I know its a diffcult thing to break, but many technicians these days are sympathetic and wanting to help. I personally find it so rewarding to transform someones nails, even more so to help a nail biter go from no nails .. to beautful nails. It does take dedication, and there are a few ways to go about it. You could go down the natural nail route and have weekly manicures with homecare products or the enhancement route, again with homecare products and a good routine. xx

Aww..thank you so much :hug:I would like to see if I could keep them quite natural as at the moment my nails are like paper.
Now I just have to find a nail tec in my area that will offer this type of service.

No doubt someone on here may be able to help you or recommend a technician. I have family in Newport too by the way, but im not familiar with the salons there. Sorry I couldnt be of more help

No worrys hun im glad there are good nail techs out there like yourself to help me acheive my final goal of long talons  unless u could move to newport :green:

Oh man! As a newly reformed nail biter/picker of 40 years, I could go on and on about this one! The bigest ingredient is TIME, followed by PATIENCE with yourself. Then DETERMINATION. Some of the little things that helped were: reminding myself how much it hurt; how unhealthy it it, how bad it looks. Another mental help was to picture my nails in good shape. Physically, the thing that finally worked for me was a toe sleeve, of all things, with gel on one side and fabric on the other, just one, bought at the drugstore! Then keep your hands folded in your lap with fingers interlocking, when not in use.

I am going to add a nail biters program to my menu when I redesign in November, so just thought I'd add my thoughts.

I have several clients who were severe nail biters, and the first thing I did with all of them was to apply a set of liquid and powder enhancements. The idea being that they can't get to them, they get used to the feeling of having nails, their self esteem/confidence is instantly boosted.

Some people say that if the problem is that bad, then they are just going to bite/pick them, but I have never experienced that. People tend to look after things a bit more when they have paid good money for it.

I then, of course, ask to see them weekly, for the first few weeks to assure correct adhesion. Moving on to fornightly. You should see their faces at every appointment when they are pointing out to you how much their nails have GROWN. Its the best feeling and it becomes addictive.
Quite often when you remove the overlay (if you remove the overlay, many don't), the clients nails are actually very strong.

I love nail biters, and many come to love me lol:):)

I offer a nail biters programme, they have to pay upfront.

It is 6 weeks initially - though many extend to 10 weeks. They get a mini solar oil visit 1, and along the way they get a Koala file and at the end a nail polish. They are weekly appointments, they have to come or void their course. I tell them all that if they 'crack' to still come back and we can address the problem areas. They have my phone number and can call any time.

I find that after week one, with no biting and lashings of solar oil that they start to believe and follow the programme (a lot of puffiness goes down and they start to look like fingers instead of sausages)

It is really important to get inside their heads and identify 'nibbling times'

I promise all by biters a set of enhancement half price if they succeed.

So far I have an 80% success rate.

Wearing enhancements solved the nail nibbling problem for me. :green:

The psychology of the biter is that he/she can't stand disorder. If one nail is longer than another then bite it so they are even if one nail is rough then pick or bite to smooth it. Once the nail technician creates 'order' by applying smooth even enhancements biters generally leave them alone and their nails start to grow.

But so things don't get disorderly again, a nail biter needs a 2 weekly rebalance or they will start picking again at anything they see as not being smooth or even.

Nail biters either make great dedicated loyal clients or they do not stick around for long.
