Is it just me ...............

Is 1.5 hrs a reasonable time to be doing a full set of tip/l&p ????

I have had at least 3 people ring and say .. OH no thats too long !!!!

Crikey, I thought i was doing really well with getting my times down..........Im working my butt off to do it in that time.

Someone please tell me how fast have I got to be??????

And what do I say to potential clients who are put off by the 1.5 hours ??

I dont think i can get any quicker !

1.5 hrs is a perfectly fine time to apply enhancements in,
the clients that you are talking about have been used to the NSS more than likely where they just throw them on in about half an hour,
ask them where they normally go and if you know the place to be a NSS you can then go on to educate them and explain why it takes the time it does,
correct prep
sanitation
client record cards etc
hth

I take about an hour and a half and that's after 3years! As far as I know it's about average and what most salons expect. The clients that say that this is too long probably either don't know what is invloved in the procedure or maybe have gone to a NSS salon. I definately would not get yourself down about taking that length of time!!!

Yep forgot to say that, I do ask if they normally go to the NSS salons (i know a couple of the salons names) and they say no....

Thats what I thought it might be,,,, I just hope im not putting people off with the time thing...

I would say that's just fine. As the others have said, they must have been to the NSS before if they expect it quicker.

When they say that's too long, I would come back at them with something along the lines of "I do a thorough job and don't cut any corners, and you will be thrilled with the result." Also mentioning proper hygiene and consultation procedures if you can, but there isn't always the opportunity to say all the things you want to say, is there.

Why dont you give popIts a go i have just done my second set and it has taken me 45 mins ! i usually take about two hours and they looked lovely :) If not say about an hour ish its not as if they are going to leave half way through ;-) xx

If they haven't been to the NSS themselves they will know someone who has and that will be where they get their ideas of time from

To some clients, speed is very important because quite frankly, they don't want to be stuck in a chair for so long.

Although very much encouraged, you can be there explaining all the good reasons why it takes so long but some clients just doen't have the heart or interest to take in all the technical things we tell them.

At the end of the day, they just want good fast enhancements which doesn't damage their natural nails.

Have you ever thought about trying poppits? If you find it difficult to get your time down any more than you can now, then maybe poppits can be an option?

If you had offered PopIts as the service for this person you would be collecting her money at the next appointment instead of turning the business away!

You guys should all nail this option for those who want a quick service ... and there are plenty of them .. why send a client off down the road because you can't do nails in less than an hour and a half. Learn this new method and fast and watch your business grow.

i'm going to appear really thick now but what is NSS?

Hi
I have finished my L&P training recently and my tutor Danielle-who is fab by the way-always said once your time was down to 1.5 hours you should leave it there. Any less time is skimping on the treatment. Good sound advice I've found.

NSS non standard salons xx

Perhaps good advice for handmade nails but not for PopIts.

The whole point is that you do not have to cut corners with PopIts.

Your prep is the same your tipping the same .. only difference is the application and the best bit ... NO FINISHING.

All the hard work is eliminated ... no buffing!!! This is where you save the time .. and the boredom of doing it.

ok, slap me on this one maybe

but I do not work in an NSS... in the salon I work at we're controlled like every week (HOW BORING)

and it's one hour per client. she arrives at 10 and leaves at 11 period.
so a set, pink and white, is done in 45 mins...

how is that possible? lol

i agree with what everyone else says....hey id be really pleased if i could carry out the whole enhancement service in an hour and half..i think thats a good reasonable amount of time...i guess you cant please everyone tho can you...i think most people, although don't want to be sat there for hours on end...they don't want to feel like theyv'e been rushed either.
As others have said..definately sounds like poppits are the answer!

honnestly?

the prep takes some time...

then you apply and you look for the perfect shape with your brush.
we're working on... working women lol so they keep it short, you soon know the size of the bead, and I can almost apply a nail with my eyes shut.

I work on reverse, so first the pink, the smile, then my white, then a quick buff (really, quick... the corners, the tip, etc) and the top gel.

we are allowed to use an e-file. I use it for infills or if I have a problem and mess it up...

Have used poppits on my own nails but wouldnt feel confident yet to go public .....

Hey Geeg!
Would you expect a set of PopIt nails to last as long as a set applied the traditional way?...

I was under the impression that PopIt nails were more of a short term thing - like weekend nails...... not for the everyday die-hard nail fanatic.

Let me know!
Hmmm, I feel some training coming on!

imho... why wouldn't it last as long if you use your popIts correctly?

I am not Gigi but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
