Hi chums

I thought I read somewhere that NSI were soon going to introduce a soak off gel. Has anyone else seen this, I can't find where I saw it. Or, more likely, am I totally off my rocker?

Maybe another company is about to introduce a soak off gel, and I got muddled. Please someone put me out of my misery and tell me if I'm talking out of my ******!:green:

im not sure i havent seen that anywhere.
nsi are bringing out new gels, they are called body builder gels which are slightly thicker than the builder gels and this is also going to include a coverage gel.x

Hiyah

Your not talking out ya ****** lol, It was mentioned in last month's Scratch Magazine, it says that it will be summer time when it will be available, im hoping that they will have some lush colours.

What is it with some people who can't understand why some technicians choose to use soak off gels?

You can't make a statement like you have above and not back it up with fact!
Can you back it up with FACT?

Do you not think that if acetone (not industrial acetone, but professional buffered acetone) were such a bad product that it would still be sold and used in salons?

I suggest you buy and read Doug Schoons book - Nail Structure and Product Chemistry before making such outlandish remarks

Professional use Acetone (product remover) is a perfectly tried and tested and safe product to use to soak off nail enhancement products.

The problem arises when you over use it (or anything for that matter) beyond the limits that are deemed by the manufacturer to be safe.

Perhaps the poster was referring to the systems of soak off gels that need to be removed every few weeks or so. I have to agree with the poster that this a potentially non desirable thing to do.

I use gels and I never really have to remove them, and I prefer the durability of a non soak off gel myself. I really do not fathom why people think a soak off gel is such a great attribute for a gel to have. Maybe someone could enlighten me.

I like to use a soak off gel to give my clients a good alternative to L&P. Some people want something that feels lighter on their nails. I think L&P is great, particularly for clients who want longer nails or have problem nails, and certainly have had more success with it than hard gel. I don't like hard gel because it is only buff-off and has no advantage to me over L&P.

When I use a soft gel/soak off gel, I use it on those clients who do not want additional length (I don't find it very effective for that) just a light reinforcement to their natural nail and a very groomed look for 3-4 weeks without any hassle. I do not always soak off the soft gel at maintenance - it depends on what colour the client chooses. However, if I do wish to soak off, it does so very quickly and quicker than L&P.

Different clients prefer different things and I think that by offering L&P and soft gel I can accommodate all clients that come through my door.

Thanks Chris for your explanation.

I do agree that there is no advantage to a hard gel over a L&P enhancement other than if the client just wants GEL because she has heard somewhere or been brainwashed into thinking that it is a healthier alternative system for nails (which it isn't). As a nail tech I think it is vital to be good at all systems and offer them.

I must say, I have never been asked by anyone for a soak off gel or a soft gel as most gels are 'softer' than L&P in any case (with the exception of Brisa Gels). However if I had clients specifically asking (and I mean many clients otherwise I would not invest my money) it might be something I would consider in that case. Otherwise I would just give them a Brisa Gel overlay.

at the moment im not interested in investing in a soak off gel as i am happy with my buff off gel,im the same as you geeg as i couldnt understand what all the hype was about with another brand that had bought a soak off gel out but having said this im not saying i never would in the future but for me my clients ahve been brainwashed into thinking that gel is better than l&p and most of my clients prefer the look off gel as do i.
i find that my buff off gel is so easy to file that even if i was doing an all over colour change i dont feel that its extra work to file it all off as you have to file a certain amount anyway.
i think it just depend on what the clients want.x

:) it's true, nsi are bringing out a new soak off gel in april, some stockists have them now but most will only be getting them in may!
the range is called illusion and the colours are amazing, happy days.

I only really do silk & l&p now as i have little or no call for gel. I would consider using the soak of gels for toe nails as this would be fab in the summer. I dont do many overlays as most people like their nails extended and have overlays after and then stick with what they already have on. Will look into NSI new range though, hopefully they will be at professional beauty this month.

I was referring to some of the systems that teach people to soak off every 3-4 weeks and not buffing to fill just redoing the nails.
