Ok to 'thin shame' but not 'fat shame'?

Just a thought but can you not be "over weight" and fit

Rugby players are fit but I'd imagine most are what would be classed as over weight

Ohh this is a tricky thread

My bmi is 25. Top end of normal but I am a size 10. I carry loads of muscle and people are always shocked when I tell them what I weigh. But I go with the theory of real woman are strong and lift lol

Just a couple of years ago the average size was a 14, make of that what you will as it had increased to 16.

I have to say though, I'm not particularly fat or thin, I'm about a 10-12. I can't for the life of me buy a top or dress in anything less than a 14 because my boobs are larger than the average (whatever that may be) which just depresses me because I know I'm not that size...

For example, I went into zara the other day and the sleeves on every coat I tried on were ridiculously tiny that they were squishing my arms. I know I have a bit of muscle there from work but it's not that much that it should make a difference.

I think everyone should just be the size they feel happy at as long as it is healthy for them! x

I don't have anything to my arms but had to return a dress I bought online once because I couldn't fit my arms into the sleeves! Makes me wonder who decides the measurements of these clothing items! X

If only someone could say something so horrible it would make me lose weight...I'd pay them

Best watch your language girls. My ecard was reported for being offensive and I have had a slap on the wrists. Think mods need to look further back though, or is it personal why only mine was reported? :) sorry folks if anyone was offended but can you make sure there is an even "playing field".

Not sure how this turned into a debate about whats considered a healthy size.

The point of the thread was that it seems more and more socially acceptable to call people too thin whilst waxing lyrical about men wanting "real woman" with the insinuation that real woman are buxum and curvey. This is discrimination and bullying. In the same way saying fat people disgust you is.
I would never dream of saying to someone I hardly knew "jesus, you are really fat arnt you" but slim people get it all the time!!

I don't think most people are under any illusions about their size. Some are a bit over weight and a bit thin but when you have bones sticking out and hardly eat there is probably something wrong and when you are always eating and your legs rub together and you can't walk very far without getting out of breath then something's wrong there too and sometimes until someone points it out you you ignore it.

Its an individual thing To be honest I think if someone is anorexic its a huge psychological problem its like a drug addiction,it needs specialist help as its a killer.
I have some problems with my sons eating,I've fed him really well most of his life,he is now 19,lots of home made food, veg etc but once he got his own money he likes to eat take a ways and drink a lot of cider,my influence has gone.he isn't over weight but he eats rubbish at the mo I have very little influence,he thinks he is young he can eat what he likes.

And a lot of the time if someone is overweight it's a huge psychological problem, like a drug addiction, being addicted to food. I know I am, at the minute it's 'under control.'
