hiya All, Are you ready for the latest instalment in my soap opera of a life! I'll start by saying that hubby still has a job and Boss Lady still has her nails and didn't explode.........................
Today was D-Day, Boss Lady had an appt for 3pm for her ManiQ/Polish mix to be soaked off. I had been calm and methodical in the run up, ordering thick Magi Wraps and was going to have a trial run on my daughter.................... THEN me and daughter both got ill this week and the holy grail (Magi Wraps) never arrived so bang went the trial run!!!!!!!!
Cut to today and I was really worried, but 2 mins before Boss Lady's appt, the Magi Wraps were delivered! (divine intervention or what?!). However, I obviously didn't get to have a trial run as boss lady then turned up. There were no instructions in the box but I had watched the magi wrap demo on the website so thought I'd be ok. Boss Lady arrived very happy as her nails still looked immaculate, just grown out and she said she has never ever had gel last 3 weeks before so she is soooo impressed etc etc. I completely filed off all the shine (even a bit more) of the old gel, then soaked the magi wrap sponge with acetone, placed the spongy bit on her nail and then wrapped the foil and folded the top over. They didn't seem overtly tight to me (but went round her finger nearly twice) but they were tighter than my DIY job last week. Once all fingers were wrapped, I then placed a warm towel over the top and then a heated wheat bag on the top of that.
All the while I was fairly confident that the angels (and Magi Wraps) had saved me..........................
20 mins later, I unwrapped 1 at a time and although the gel had crackled slightly, they would not gently scrape off so I added a bit more acetone to the sponge and re-wrapped them. Another 10 mins later, (so 30 mins total) I unwrapped again and lo and behold they had only crackled a tiny bit and again they didn't scrape off gently. I was now secretly panicking and went to wrap them AGAIN!! but Boss Lady said she didn't mind if I just buffed the remainder off with a white buffing block (huge sigh of relief). They did buff off easily and she didn't mind and had another soak off set put on, but this time she chose a Cuccio Soak Off colour. Again, application was fine and she was extremely happy with the end result, so much so that she has already booked another appt for 3 weeks' time, which means, girls, that I have GOT to crack this soaking off lark before she comes back again!!!..........................
Tonight, I put exactly the same Cuccio gel on my daughter and attempted to soak off with magi wraps and Cuccio Soak Off Gel Remover. Exactly the same thing happened - it wouldn't soak off!!!. This is making me think that I am obviously not wrapping the nail properly. Is there some sort of knack to how you wrap with a magi wrap (blimey, that sounds like a song lol)???? Are there any magi wrap, soak off experts who could please offer me some tips and advice???????
So much for divine intervention!, think I'm being "tested" now lol lol lol
Desperately hope someone can shed some light (and some gel!)
Big hugs xxxxxxxx
