Hi guys,

Been doing lashes for 4 years now and do them regularly in the salon I've been in since March.

Everyone loves them but people being people, I have had some right pain in the arse clients who insist (yeah yeah) they haven't put a single thing on their lashes and have NO idea why loads have fallen out? Or think they can come back for maintenance with one eyelash left in after leaving it 5 weeks...you know what I mean!!!

So I've decided to make a new aftercare leaflet that is quite strongly worded hehe. Please tell me your thoughts on it and if I can improve it?

Many thanks xx

Eyelash Extension After Care

The duration of your individual eyelash extensions very much depends upon how you will treat them. It is important to follow these guidelines to pro-long the life of your eyelash extensions.

After your lash extensions it is normal to experience loss of some lashes during the first 24 hours as adhesive is still setting, please take extra care during this period and do not worry as approximately 50-100 lashes are applied to each eye.

Do not use saunas or steam during the first 48 hours.

Avoid getting your eyelashes wet for the first 24 hrs - after that it is safe to swim, shower and wash your face with water.

You can rinse your lashes with water and pat them dry gently with a towel, however do not rub your lashes while washing them and avoid using cotton wool.

Eyelash Curlers should not be used as the may damage the bond and break eyelash.

Do not pick, pull or rub your eyelashes.

You need to take extra care when using make up remover as it may contain oil that damages the bonding agent. Avoid contact between moisturizers, eye creams, or makeup removers around the eyelash extensions.
Any cosmetic product or cleanser containing glycols, organic solvents, alcohol, or urea should be avoided. Products such as these can potentially break down the adhesive bond and shorten the duration of time the extensions stay on.

Gently groom your new lashes with an eyelash brush or comb.

If you wish to use mascara, avoid using waterproof mascaras as that will shorten the life of your lash extensions. Repeated use of any mascara (including clear) may cause the lashes to clog and can shorten their lifespan.

Lashes should not be permed or tinted, if you require eyelash tint you need to do this before the application of extensions.

Eyelashes are normally shed on a regular basis, thus multiple extensions may be lost on any given day.

When grooming your lashes, ensure that you brush just the ends, do not brush from the base of your lashes.

If you wish to keep the lashes as a regular thing, you need to have a maintenance appointment every 2-3 weeks. Any longer than this and you may need to be charged for a new full set of eyelash extensions.

If you experience any itching or irritation, contact me as soon as you can.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me as I will be happy to help!

I have read and understood the aftercare given to me, and I agree that when I leave the salon the lashes are my responsibility, and the therapist will not be held responsible for any premature shedding of the lashes.

Hi!
I think that is really good, I totally agree with you, maybe add that you have the retail products available to care for the lashes, eg: oil-free eye make-up remover, cleaning cloths & mascaras, that is if you have these products? I always advise my clients to use the correct products as this helps maintain their lashes, I'm sure you do the same:?: x:D

i dont do lashes but have had them done.

as a client i regard what you have written as perfectly reasonable expectations.

I don't do lashes either, but I'd say that comes across as polite but firm......perfect.

And I have to say I've thought about having my lashes done but won't now as I know I couldn't follow all that advice lol, I won't go out without mascara and I always rub my eyes when washing/drying my face, I'd be back for a new set every week lol.

No matter what business you work in, you will always get clients who take the mick! I have read your leaflet and I have to say when you said it is strongly worded, I braced myself, but I didnt find anything that felt as if it was strongly worded.

The only bit I think you could maybe reword was this:

If you wish to keep the lashes as a regular thing, you need to have a maintenance appointment every 2-3 weeks. Any longer than this and you may need to be charged for a new full set of eyelash extensions.

If you would like lashes on a permanent basis, you will need to have them maintained every 2-3 weeks. This will (then put a little reason why). For appointments made outside of 3 weeks, it may be necessary to charge for a full set of eyelash extensions.

when i read that you were wording it strongly i though oh my gosh, but when i actually read it it isn't harsh at all! i love that you have actually listed the names of 'things' to avoid in products! i think you covered everything that i can think of. i have done my lash training though i am working on getting my case studies done now so i am not up to the stage of doing real clients but reading all these posts sure does make me worry! lol x

awww thanks a lot and i will definately look at re-wording that part. Just wanted to ensure that I covered everything, because i've had too many clients coming in saying loads of their lashes have fallen out because they didnt follow my homecare advice.

I think getting them to sign it too and attaching it to their record card hopefully covers me too :D

I have to say that I don't think it's strongly worded, it covers everything they need to know. But the bit I've put in bold above did make me wonder, are you going to put a signed copy in the record card, and give them a copy to take home? Because if you get them to just read through it then take it away from them, they're never going to remember everything!

Hi
I make my living doing lashes and I love how you have written this statement. I does get a bit wearing when people take this mick so you do right to make your policies clear from the start. I had to do something similar about 6 months ago as I was having the same problems as you with a few clients and it worked! I don't have any problems with this now so its much better. x

I think it is perfectly worded and I too on my aftercare sheet tell the client that if they leave it longer than 3 weeks for an infill they may well be charged for a full set depending on how many they have lost. I am waiting for a call from a client who is coming up to week four. She was going to ring me last week but didn't, so when and if she does call she will probably end up paying for a full set again.

Hiya. I was going to cut the signed bit off and attach it to their record card and give them the leaflet to take home :D

Ah, that makes sense then!

The list of ingredients - I was just wondering how many clients will actually read the ingredients in their products. I can envisage people coming back saying "well, how was I to know that xyz products contains urea?"
I wonder whether there is any mileage in saying products such as x, y and z are likely to contain ingredient a, b and c. [You don't need to name brands]. We strongly advise that you check with your extensionist as to the suitability of your at home products. We cannot be held responsible if you use them and they adversely affect your lashes. If in doubt please contact us to discuss.
Other than that it all sounds reasonable to me.
I would suggest that you bullet point the list and have one line in blue and one line in black; it makes it very much easier to read.

Hi I dont do lashes(yet) but I have read through your form, and it seems perfectly clear, firm , but still polite, makes the customer think that theyre not going to get away with fooling you! : )

I personally do hair and nail extensions, but still do have the old faithful client that still likes other treatments done, and it always states on any of my forms that the customer is paying for a service, not a product, so are not entitled to a refund, and that they are obliged to tell me of any problems when i have finished carrying out there chosen service.I also read them through the chosen form, so that they fully understand everything(and so they cant try pulling a fast one)

When I first started out I was ssoooo soft with clients, give them an inch, and they will take a hundred miles, lol!!
