Hi,

I did a tan for a friend on Thursday and she called me Friday to say it looked great and everything was fine. Then Saturday night I had a phone call saying the tops of her arms had gone funny, she said it looked like somone had flicked water at her and the tan had gone blotchy!?!
I asked her if she'd exfoliated or scrubed, and she said she hadn't.
Has anyone experienced this before or know what could have caused it??

Hi Steph,
I do think you have actually answered your question here
Pre tan prep and post tan care is essential to turning out a good tan.
HTH

She exfoliated before she had the tan, but then it went patchy!?! I asked if she'd exfoliated after the tan was applied (as I thought this might have caused the patchness) and she said she hadn't!!

What moisturiser has she used? What shower/bathing product has she used? How does she dry her skin after her shower?

Pre and post tan care is not just exfoliating but the whole thing.

I would say that she hadn't exfoliated properly before the tan.

If this is the case, then after a couple of days, the normal shedding of the skin is going to look far more noticeable in these areas as the tan has been sprayed on top of dead skin IYKWIM.

The commonest place for this to occur, in my experience, is the top and back of the arms and also between the shoulder blades - HTH

Also if she has used any products containing any oils this would happen,
shower gel, moisturiser etc
