I noticed on the Pro Beauty website that there weren't any details of the nails comps and when I called them yesterday the marketing department said this was because they weren't doing any nail comps this year at Pro Beauty North. They couldn't tell me why not.

Can anyone clarify (perhaps Chocolate)?

If I get the chance today I will give Rachel a call and update. Whether I was entering or not, I think it is a real shame if the comps aren't going ahead.

Come to the CND EVENT instead ... it will be way better!!

It is a shame, but attendance at shows is way down and the quality is too so it is no real surprise.

This is not the case at all hun...you have unfortunatley been miss informed  There is going to be plenty of fantastic competitions 'as always' from the organisers of Pro B. They have been busy organising Dublin but on Friday this week have a meeting about Pro B North to finalise competitions and rules.

It was Lupe Prada (Marketing Director) at Pro Beauty I spoke to. They seemed pretty sure the info they gave me was accurate. I will call them again.

If the Nail Comp is going ahead at Pro Beauty North, why isn't it on their website like the Make-Up Comp?

Haven't had a chance to touch base with Rachel but will post as soon as I get clarification.

Better or not I won't be going as I can't afford to. £200 is not achievable unfortunately. I will be going to Pro Beauty though and looking like a right billy no mates. Looking forward to seeing what the atmosphere is like with the competitions etc. :)

I'll be going to Pro Beauty again this year!! I love it & wouldn't miss out for the world. Have to be nice to hubby so that I can have a mini shopping spree!!

I am with you here mate. I think we need to give the organisers a break here these ladies/gents work very hard all year round to give us or comps which just dont appear by magic over nite.........

Lets just give them a little time to get things in place and they will let us all now in good time what comps will be available.....

If anyone has looked at this months Scratch mag then they would know that Denise Wright as just returned from the US expo and will need a little time to get over the jet lag and back to what she very good at providing and organisation of the fab comps we all crave and love.

I know £200 is a bit to find, but it costs me on average £3-400 to attend g-mex to compete over 2 days.

Competeing and education events only happen a few times a yr, and sometimes choices have to be made.
If there isnt any comps at g-mex, Im afraid I wont be attending due to the distance, But education roadshows like the event are somewhat one offs and cost the same as an average 2 days training eg 2 x masters classes.

Fingers crossed the comps are on!

I think Geeg referred to the event being "better" than g-mex due to the fact that is a full on 2-day packed agenda with a party thrown in, as opposed to traipsing around spending buckets off pennies and a vodka in the bar at the hotel!!
Mind you I do have some gr8 memories of Ruth(nails in london) and us in the bar in a hotel somewhere in Manchester!!

Unfortunatly, i can now confirm that the Manchester Nail Competition (Oct 12th /13th 2008) has been cancelled. I was informed by email on Monday evening but as i have been out of the office for 2 days, i only read the email today.

I would to confirm that the nail comp in Dublin (Oct 5th / 6th 2008) will still be taking place. Although they use the PB logo, it is owned by Expo Events so is therefore not affected.

On a personal note, i am so sorry to all those competitiors that have put time and effort into preparing for this competition.

At the moment i have no further information.

Thanks for clarifying Rachel xx:hug:

Holy cow:eek:

That leaves only excel then:cry:

Im gutted as I for one was a voice in the wilderness a few years ago encouraging some on this site to compete.

it raises your game soo much.

Oh well, lets hope someone takes pity on us addicts and comes up with something equally as good.

I have just about got over the shock now and have spoken to lots of you this afternoon. Dont take offence if i havent contacted you, im doing as many as i can, only about 80 to go!

I know some of you are very upset, and some angry to. There are a lot of pi**** of techs out there now. I can understand as time, money and effort has already been spent with only 10 weeks to go.:mad::mad:

Thank you so much for not taking it out on me, im with you guys and for those that are regular competitors, you know me well and i always have your best interest at heart.
