I wanna pull my hair out - argh!!!!!! I am trying to get my smile lines perfect and although my clients are happy with them i'm not, I am such a perfectionist and like everything to be even and spot on! Is there a tool or anything I can use to per-fect my smile line, I have tried painting them on (as shown in a step by step tutorial on here - forgot who its by now) I have tried using a dotting tool (advice given before on a previous thread) I just cant seem to get a nice crisp finish to them and for them all to look the same, its make me so jealous and annoyed when i see all your lovely work and i just wish i could do it! I use calgel and am startin to wish I had trained in acrylic as I am sure I would get on better with it
PLEASE PEOPLE TELL ME YOUR SECRETS xxxx

In my opinion there is no secret.
It is something that just 'perfects' itself with practice.
I had noend oftrouble when I first started, then one day I did a set and they just smiled. Now I dont really have aproblem.
Practice, practice, practiceis my advice and they WILL smile-I promise.
Good luck and have fun practising.
xx

have you tried back bobbing flower - place your smile line, then turn your brush round so that the brisles are facing you, then push the smile line in (this will make a grove under the whites) you should beable to get crisp smiles that way flower - i dont know if ive explained that very well but im sure another geek will

oops didnt read that very well - i thoguhtyou on about l/p not gel - sorry flower

You can do first cover gel/acryl on nail bed. White material itself will lie exactly

Oh yes, I didnt explainthat I do this aswell.
Its a fab technique and REALLY works.

Hi,

Well I am also a total perfectionist......and although I don't use calgel now, I have done in the past.

I may get beaten to a pulp by a load of nail geeks for saying this....but it was a trick I was told many years ago! Try it.....pop your white gel on in a smiley shape....then have an old brush handy.....dip in acetone/gel cleanse (don't saturate) and then swipe your smile in. Do it nail by nail, and wipe your brush before dipping in acetone/gel cleanse again.

Worked a treat for me. BUT practice your smiles as much as you can, because it WILL come to you. And its a great feeling when they get crisper each time!!

Good luck!

Oh......and by the way, I only mean when doing GEL FRENCH POLISH. Not actual pink and white enhancements!!!

You can also do this with white builder gel

Thanks for all your quick replys, not quite understanding Mart's reply though, sorry for bein dumb!

I was taught to apply my pink, then with a clean brush wipe away the smile line, cure, apply white smile line, cure, apply clear gel, cure, finished.

Does anybody else do it this way? do u think this is why i am having problems and not gettin even smiles due to my process? x

how about placing a bead of white onto the nail and then pushing the gel into place from behind...its really hard to explain but one of the best ways i have found.

I was taught....

Meticulous prep (hehe),
Tip and blend,
Prime,
Thin layer of clear builder....cure (DONT WIPE BETWEEN COATS OF GEL),
White builder gel smile line (swipe smile line in with clean brush)....cure,
Pink builder......cure,
File, buff, refine.
Clear gel topcoat....cure.

I think!! lol!! Long time since my gel training...and I am a total L&P geek!

just did these very quickly...they ain't brill but might help

pic 1...placing a bead of paint on white

pic 2...pushing the gel from behind

pic 3...after pushing into place gently drag down to cover the tip/free edge

Lovely example Angie :)

Thank you everyone, I am going to put some practice in tomorrow and try a few different ways. I manage fine on a practice finger, but on a real hand i find it so much more tricky and fiddly! My problem is that I want to do things perfect striaght away and i get fed up with myself when I dont seem to be improving! Patience and perfect practice I keep telling myself! x

Thats what i mean :

YouTube - ????? - ???????

1 step cover 2 step white

I enjoyed that youtube clip....not sure about the wooden blocks (pinching).......but was very impressed with the rest.

I dont think the pink coverage was blended too well ....

Great control of the white though..
