Hi I am looking for a bit of help.
i have a Mini Mist machine which is fantastic and was working great up until tonight.

I started ok but it seemed to stop spraying any of the solution the air is still coming out, I would start at the top then it would stop and start leaving little white spaces.
I hope this is making sense I am struggling to find the right words to explain what I mean:eek:

I have taken the gun apart cleaned it then sprayed water through it I also cleaned out the filter in the machine to which did have a bit of solution in it.
Do you think the dirty filter could have caused it?

I sprayed loads of water through it and it seems to be working ok with that I don't have a client until Friday afternoon but I am so worried its not going to work.

Anything else I could be doing wrong?

have you cleaned the needle aswell karen?
i had this and when i went to jen to show her , it was fine!!( typical!)
turn up the solution flow screw on the back and see if it still stops and starts
i do this with water and hold the gun so its sideways on and with a darkish background you will be able to see the liquid coming out of the nozzle as you look at it profile on,
( does that make sense??)

turn it up and down and see if it stops doing it

hth
let me know if i didnt make any sense lol

If you have taken your gun apart and given it a through clean it should be fine now,
just sounds like it had old solution blocking the gun somewhere,
have you seen the video that Jen did showing how to take the gun apart fully and give it a good clean, it is on the site somewhere hun

Thanks hun I have seen the video it is great I was lucky during my training Alimac showed me how to take the gun apart and where the filter was.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that whatever was the problem has cleared with cleaning.

Yes it should be fine now,
this is one of the tell tale signs to let you know that it needs a good clean

Get some couch roll, hang it on the back of a door and test it out!!

Then you will know if its working before you do your next client!

Hi Karen,

I know what's wrong, I'll send you a PM.

If you know what is wrong why not share it so that someone else might learn from it? ;)

Yes please do.

Ocasionally a solution mix can develope tiny lumps (caramelization of the liquid ingrediances) which is generally speaking caused when the liquid is either stored or travels below freezing for long durations.

The outcome of the tan is not effected but because the tiny lumps are elastic (like gum) they can clog up the gun itself.

Now there are two ways to test if this is the case

1) Try using water through the gun and see if the spray is consistent..if so try a different solution to the one that is causing the gun to stick,if ok then try the soluion you are having a problem with....if the gun sticks then it's a solution problem.

2) Get a fine sieve (like a tea strainer kind of thing)and run the solution through it..if the liquid has caramelized you will see tiny black lumps in the sieve...if so there is a caramelization of the liquid.

Now even if there is caramelization of the liquid that doesnt mean it won't tan...simply run it through a sieve to remove the lumps (thus preventing the gun from sticking) and tan away

Job done

Thanks for that Collin my I don't know how old my solution is as I bought it from a girl who was closing her salon and I am not sure how long she had it before selling it to me.

I will do the sieve test before tanning this afternoon just to see.
Sadly it isn't just happening with one solution but 2 so I am praying my gun just needed a good clean.

I have tried it with just water and it looks fine so using a solution will be the test:eek:

mmmmm I hate to say this but buying old solution from someone else that you dont know how old it is probaly isnt wise and best tipping down the sink and getting fresh liquid that you know the history of

Before spraying your customer try the liquid through your gun on a couch roll hung from a door....do the full length and see if it sprays consistant..if not then sieve the liquid to see if any lumps......

A bit of detective work now will pay dividends for when your customer comes in

Oooh errrrr you learn something new every day dont you lol wish someone could sieve my lumps out lol lol :green:
