I haven't been, just been giving them out to those who want to use them but after reading on someone else's site and reading through the leaflets that came with my sienna kit today it seems that some people charge extra for these.

If you do, how much do you charge? I only charge 20 pounds per spray tan mobile and that goes down the more people there are so I suppose it isnt unreasonable to make a charge if they want to use disposable undies instead of wearing their own? I dont want to increase my prices to include things like disposables as not everyone will want to use them, but at the same time the price of these things does add up by the time you buy them and add vat and postage etc etc...

What are your thoughts?

I charge £20 per tan and I dont charge for disposables, my price covers everything I use......plus to be fair only a very small proportion of my clients use them too

Personally I dont charge for disposables as not everyone wants them. Most of my clients wear there own. I just think it's nice to able to offer them one if they need it. I always use the caps and always make sure i order them with my solution to avoid further p&p.
This is my personal opinion and not everyone will agree but I dont think it is very professional to charge for them. It doesnt seem right for me to do it.
I totally understand where you are coming from though. The prices do all add up!
Maybe you could give them one thong and hat and tell them to re-use it next time other wise they are x-amount each? The clients I have that do like the dispoables (bless them) mostly always save them for next time, to save me some money xxx

No i dont charge for them either,
it just does not seem right.

If you sit and work out your cost per tan you would probably find you didnt need to charge anything...

**** trade prices removed ***

Now granted you have petrol and disposables and so forth to bring into it, however I am thinking you dont really need to charge for disposables.

However if you were to do a cut price offer, for example tan for a tenner ( I do this once a month only) or BOGOF your cutting your gross profit down, so then I add onto my pre treatment procedure flyers "please wear old underwear"

That is a good idea, something i havent thought of.
I am doing a deal where if my clients bring a friend they get their tan half price and the friend pays full price. But cant give the full paying client the disposables and not the friend. Hummmm tricky one. What would you do for this ? xx

I only noticed it on the Sienna question and answers leaflet where it said about wearing old underwear 'or your therapist will carry disposable underwear for you to purchase'..

Maybe I will ask them to keep their disposable undies if they do use them, that doesnt seem unreasonable to me.

I have never actually bought disposable underwear for clients and now i really think i should as the other day a client turnt up with no underwear on and they needed to take an unused pair of mine for the tan.

But when i do get them i wont charge for this extra as i would still be covering this by charging 20.00 per tan. IMO i think it would be a little petty to put on the extra pence.

Hths

Good grief!
Do they charge you for the electricity you use when you plug your spray tan machine in?!
This should be all part of the service!

Always remember clients like to know and feel as though they are getting a good deal. If I was to go to have a tan and they charged me for these little extra's I wouldnt return again as I feel like they were only interested in my money not making me look good.

I think clients love the Spray Tan Technicians who make them feel like they are getting a great deal, all these little extra's and a tan all for the same price as a tan they are more than likely to come back to you for another tan ( along with it looking good and lasting a fair amount of time)

Ive added up i could do a full body tan, give them a hat, a bra & thong and sticky pads and still make a good profit from charging 20.00

Im making profit - Client gets nice little extras to make them feel like they are being looked after - Everyone is happy

But it's not "a little extra"!
This SHOULD be factored into the cost of the tan.
Get real here.

Of course it should be. But clients would see it as a little extra as when you advertise for your tanning you only advertise normally full body tan for this price XX you dont mention about all the things that come along with it. So when they do come and have their tan and you offer them these things they would then feel like they are getting extras and being looked after as (normally) clients dont always expect you to have these things at hand as not everyone does.

the ones I saw for sale on the website weren't pence.... they were 2 pounds a pair!!

 WHAT!!?? Thats madness would be cheaper to buy a 5 pack of thongs in primark! I know beauty express sell them in packs for a good price

I don't charge either. Would't dream of it. For each spray tan client I have I leave out the disposable pants and cap, a pair of sticky feet and a pair of disposable gloves for them to take away in case they need to do some washing etc. (i put some business cards and a before/aftercare card into the gloves too) If they don't use the pants, I just keep them. These little things just show that you are professional and the cost isn't really very much.

When they book ask them to both ensure they wear old undies, if they ask just perhaps say your waiting on a delivery or somesuch

A box of disposable undies from Sally's or similar works out at pence per unit. I'm clearly missing something here - can someone please tell me what it is?! I truly can't believe that you would charge for this. I think it smacks of cheapness and tackiness.

A box of 100 costs €34 (inc vat) over here - which would only work out 34cent per person which isn't bad at all.

Being a public forum are you happy that your clients have access to this type in financial information??

I certainly am not happy that this type of detail is available!

I also get nothing like 33 tans from a litre of solution either.

I am not "getting " at you personally Tonilee but I don't believe costs should be given at all let alone in such a detailed format.

I don't think Jaffacake is wrong here as everyone has there own opinions and different ways they do things/run their business etc. But I think what you have to do here, to answer your own question it think about you as a spray tanning client. Would you choose the therapist that provides you with disposables or the one that charges you?
I'm sure you will do what you think is best for you and your business hun. Your not wrong but just think you need to carefully think about it. xxx
