I am going crazy here !

I have since my last Brisa post completed 2 sets of Brisa P&W using a variety of ways on different fingers....

I still cant get the apex right...

The first set were quite flat & thin & im sure they wont last - victim (one of the dressers).

On the second set I went higher with it but obviously the gel was too thick and the victim (daughter) experienced heat spike...

I have tried several ways:

After tipping & prep & all the usual bonder and first layer (before someone shouts prep) lol

1st way - Used the white scuplt gel to build up the tip did this in two layers so to try to avoid heat spike. Then built up the rest of the nail, but i think they are still too thin & not enough apex.

2nd way - Built up the nail first then used POW which i didnt think gave the same crisp smile line, too thick caused heat spike.

I seem to be having to do more & more layers (time consuming) to build up rather than get the apex high enough in build up stage.

I wont give up on this but need some real helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllp

xx

Is your gel too warm when you're applying it?

I know I suffer in the summertime and have to keep my gel really cool to be able to sculpt with them.
Then in the winter I find if it gets too cold it's hard to move around on the nail.
It has to be thick but moveable to enable you to get a nice 'form' with it.

Some people put the hands into the lamp upside down (palm up) to help create an apex hth

It seems ok Val......Its twirling ok......I just cant seem to get it right.....

I think i need some extra help with it, i trained at MK with Kelly & Anne but I dont think they train CND anymore..

Its so frustrating cause I know what i should be doing and its just not getting there.

Looking at my own set (on my wrong hand) i have a definate apex flat spot.....

I had been taught to do the ice cream twirly thing for apex, i cant even get that right now!

Not tried the upside down in the lamp way....

Brisa nails make my old nails look thick but a little does go along way.

I prefer scupting white as I cant get a crisp thin white with Brisa paint,
I apply pink to whole nail then apply a caterpillar like bead across apex a lil away from the smile line not on it!
I hold my brush perpendicular (handle up) and drizzle the line across then I go up and around the cuticle and fill in zone 3. Most of the product should be still at apex then I smooth it back from zone 2 to zone 3.
As I didnt put the caterpillar (someone give me a better word!) on smile I tease a little forward to give a beautiful arc.

I watched that on the dvd and i did try that, maybe i didnt have enough gel on the brush...

Im so frightened of the heat spike i darent build it too much, but too many stages is time consuming...

You sculpt the smile line in first, as i do.

Then place most of the product just behind the smile and drag back ..... This is what im trying to do....

I dont think ive got my quantities right...

The nails look great, but im not happy with the apex thing, I know its not built high enough.....

Its sooooo frustrating lol

post a pic and then we can see, your prob doing fine remeber you can go over the nails with clear or brisa gloss to fill in any dips.

I do the brisa gloss.....

I will take a pic of daughters btw shes lost 2 .... that would never happen with L&P lol

I think its more of a confidence thing, they dont look as good or last as well as my L&P work (comfort zone) lol

Going to crack this Brisa if its the last thing i do !

Any other help would be gratefully recieved xx

There are other CND educators in your area who could offer you help.

Brisa has such a low heat imision that I wonder how painful it would be with other gels . eek

Gotta tell you, if I can crack it anyone can :green:

It is a such a dream to use, If I go to heaven, I'll be the one putting Brisa nails on angels....................a girls got to dream :)

I do love working with it and i love the gleaming results but my gels dont look anywhere near as nice a shape as my L&P ....

I know its all practice and confidence, i just get frustrated when its all in my head and not on my nails lol x

I don't know if you can visualize this, but I work in circles without lifting my brush off the nail. After I apply my white free edge, I take my scoop of pink and lay it just butt up to the white, then work it back towards the cuticle in soft, small circles, icing cake-like, then start brushing back from the cuticle BACK towards the white smile, with the same arc-like movements. It won't be even with the white, but after you do your finish work and then gloss it, it's fine.

Did that make ONE lick of sense?

yes it did heather xx
also look at the nail from the side view so you can 'see' the flat spot and take your brush form the center of the eponychium and lightly 'string' the pink upto the white, this will help to keep the bulk of the product in the center (apex) freeze cure the nail for 10 seconds straight away,

remember your using the gel on your brush to move the product not the bristles on the brush.

maybe you have just had a very sensitive client, brisa is quite cool on the cure i believe as long as you are using the right lamp.

anyway, my tip to prevent heat spike on even a sensitive nail is to cure the gel a little more slowly. this is done by applying the gel and then holding the hand just in front of the lamp, in the glow of the bulbs, but not in full contact with them. count to 20 and then put the nails fully in for a full cure.works perfectly every time in my experience.
