Hi,
I do beauty but have never got into doing acrylic/gel nails though i do mani's and pedi's. I read in a magazine about nails inc doing a manicure with a gel formula so that the polish lasted three weeks.

Could you nail experts enlighten me as to how this works and whats a good brand? I see a lot of brides and it would be great if the polish could last longer with no chipping.

Many thanks x

Star nails do a top gel that can be used over polish hth

I once had it done there years ago before I got into nails myself and was very good but also very expensive!! Think they used Bio Sculpture then but not sure if they still do now. There are a lot of gels out there now and I use Calgel which personally I love. There are lots of different colours aswell as whites/pinks for french. My nails last for ages even when doing other peoples. hth x

Yes, as Sassy has said above, I believe the 3-week-manicure which Nails Inc include in their service menu uses Bio Sculpture Gels (at least some of the concessions within department stores in central London does).

Bio Sculpture is a well established gel system, which is available worldwide. There are plenty of threads on the site regarding Bio Gels, so it's probably worth you doing a search to come up with the answers you seek.

In the meantime, check out their website:

I use IBD gels but because its a faff having to buff the colour off afterwards, I am now tryng IBD soak off gels. Will let you know how it goes! :)

Hi,
When I do a colour gel, I 1st do a very thin clear lock in layer, then a 2nd clear layer.........Before using any colour gel....then 2 layers of my chosen colour gel, so when the client comes back for a colour change I only have to buff the color off, leaving the clear layer protecting her natural nails, infill the growth area with clear, then re apply her chosen colour. Hope this makes sense.
Lotsa luv x

I used to work for Nails inc. and the 3 week manicure or everlasting polish treatment was Bio sculpture gel.

I've been using Calgel coloured gels for a long time, which soak off and they last for ages. I tend not to do infills on them just soak off and re-apply! The french looks great if you use they're competition white and gel number 43 which has a slight shimmer to it.:)

Quattro... I've just got some but haven't tried it yet.

Am I right in thinking that you dont have to do false nails to use these systems?
I trainned years ago in gels, scupture and fibre glass but never continued in them- so dont offer false nails.

Good question, I'd like to know this too.

My Mum had this done in july and her nails were a complete mess. They claim it isnt a gel, but it quite obviously is!!!

It took me months to fix my mums nails.
