You are a spring chicken ... Go for it x

I'm onto my third career now!
I was a registered nurse for 10 odd years, then an IT project manager for 15 years, and now I'm a therapist, and I'm temping as a stock manager for an audio visual company. I'll be 45 in August.
Gone are the days of jobs for life - this is the age of being fulfilled and happy.
Go for it!

go for it you are never to old to learn new skills. I have been training for years and I am still training and love it. I would be bored if I stopped training.
good luck with new career

I am comming up to 52 and just completing my ITEC Beauty Specialist Course. I qualified as a Nail Technician just before turning 50 and am so pleased I have done it. Your never too old, and I just love my new career.

I'm 35 and have just gone back into hairdressing after 5 years away best thing I've ever done. I didn't think anyone would take me seriously but they did and they have also sent me on a course to update my skills.
I was realy nervous at first as I thought it would be all young trainees which to be honest it was but they have all made me feel really welcome.

Just remember you are never to old!

Work is a big part of your life and you need to enjoy it.
I say go for it!
Good luck and all the best

i trained in beauty therapy when i was 27 and it was the best decision i ever made. I reccomend you invest in the CIDESCO qualification, train in as much as you can now and it will benefit you more in the long run and be prepared for a pay cut! beauty therapist are paid buttons starting off, but you should do it now while you are young. you don't want to look up from your desk in 20 yrs and wonder why your still there :)

From the "other side of the desk" I'd much rather have late 20 somethings who are serious about learning, soak up knowledge or at least make an honest effort than 20 somethings who are just now moving into their own space and are finally free from the rules and guidelines laid down by parents.

We get a pretty broad age range of students, typically it is the more mature student that gets the most from the education, because they put more into it. Not always, there are some very dedicated young people too.

I am 28 and am thinking about training to become a beauty therapist. I currently work for a charity but am looking to get into something which is more people centered rather than office based.

I've had a look at some courses and beauty school websites and there's so much choice out there. Do you guy's think that the NVQ qualification does the job or would it be worth investing in the CIDESCO award?

Also do you think that at 28 I'm a little bit too old to start a career in beauty therapy? seriously considering the career change but just need some advice or any inspiring stories!

lol no way are you too old, go for it girl, Im 40 and started a nvq2 in nail services in sept 07,and Im loving it,cant get enough lol, and yep Im the oldest on my course and was a bit nervous when i started, but my tutor made me feel comfortable, and a few of the younger ones have now dropped out,and Im still standing :) I dont regret it at all and will do more courses in the near future, and the age differences between me and my college mates dont matter because we all have a laugh :)

Your never to old, if your willing and want to learn.

I like many others on here started level at 37 and there are others older than me on the course. Im going on to do level 3 in September and I'll be 40 in September but its never to late because its something I REALLY want to do.

Go for it!

I just wish I had started alot younger as I LUV IT!!!!!

You go girl, beleive me you will not look back. I meet so many interesting and lovely people in my treatment room at home. My clientele is going form strength to strength.
