I've had two enquiries today, people wanting me to do their eyebrows and then do a spray tan.

I've told both ladies that it's not a good idea to wax straight before a tan, as the pores are open to infection.

Both are insistent it is fine, (and don't want seperate appointments) and that they want it doing before. One said we could cover it up but surely there would be white bits.

Both clients live 10 miles for me which seems pointless to go 20 miles there and back for £5 for a wax.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do or say. I said I'd get second opinions before I got back to either of them. Cheers.

I get a lot of clients where I work wanting ebw's same time as spray tans but we refuse to do it. I normally suggest either day before for the ebw (not day after as you'll wax the tan off lol) or I'l tweeze after i've done the spray tan. This way you get no problems with tan coming off or spraying onto freshly waxed skin. Every client I've said this to was happy with a tweeze tidy up!
Hope this helps!
:)

You never tan straight after waxing and don't let them talk you into it. These will be the very people that will start screaming when they come out in an allergic reaction. Give it a couple of days.

Of course, if you wax after they've tanned, the tan will come off. xxx

This is the perfect solution for clients wanting both on the same day

I agree with Kim here. I wouldnt do it. I tell my clients no. Simple really. They can get yellow pusy spots even if you tweeze.
For the sake of a tenner, i'd leave it hun xxx

I'd be very surprised if any reputable insurance company would be in agreement with this Lou. It isn't advisable to put anything such as henna or tan on the 'just waxed' skin. I've checked this out with BABTAC and they said that they would never cover it. xxx

I was refering to the tweezing not waxing hun

I have done this on myself and a friend, with no adverse reaction at all. I put a bit of after wax oil on afterwards, and had no white marks or irritation. However a 'real' client, I wouldnt risk it. Its not reccomended so not really a good idea to put your rep on the line!

Thanks for your replies all. I'm going to say I can't do it, one of them wants a lip wax. Will do it before.

Thanks all it's kind of you to reply. I knew the answer to my question but it's just confirming it professionally to the client when they are nattering you!

I think Kate's quote sums things up in a nutshell.

There will be many therapists that do undertake both treatments on either customers and or friends /family etc and many have managed to get away without any problem.

However given that there "could well be a problem" it is advisable that from a good practise perspective that these treatments are not undertaken together and that at least 24hrs+ break is given between each treatment.

We all recommend not having a spray tan within 24hrs of shaving and the same rule applies when being waxed where there is always the added danger of the tan outcome "spotting" and or possible infection.

Of course waxing immediately after a spray tan is gonna take it off

:green: That'll be then!! It was the day before my wedding neither could wait, I needed unbushy brows and a tan......I know we totally went against what we practice normally but I was ok!! As Kate said though, its not worth risking your rep over at all

xx

i agree, i have done the same waxed my eyebrows put after wax cream afterwards then spray tanned my self :green:, i got nothing from it but if the insurance says no its no. I normally tweeze them after 'if its a tidy' if its a total reshape i tell them a couple of days before their tan.

The only other option would be to not spray their face, if they are going to put on makeup anyway, there's no problem.
