Just to reinforce what Kim and Gill have already said and to reiterate/clarify the info in the previous thread: don't go sticking spatulas of wax up inside yours or anyone else's noses, Geeks.

The hairs that stick out of the very end of the nostrils are the only hairs I would remove. And the hairs on the outer ear, never inside the ear canal or up the inside wall of the nose.

A doctor once told me, never stick anything less than your elbow in your ear or up your nose!

Funny this thread is up today, we had an older gentleman who normally trims or tweezes his own ear hair and while having a haircut he began to complain about how long it took to do on a regular basis and I said "would you be willing to wax it?" Apparently we are the only place in town (we've had a spree of men callers asking for this- amazing how quickly word travels) and we waxed his ears. He wanted his nose done also, but our regulating agency doesn't allow for nasal hair removal with out direct medical supervision, so he was out of luck.

Our wax is Satin Smooth hard wax- what is commonly referred to as hot wax- and we used a small facial wax applicator spread the wax around and let it cool with the spatula resting on the ear, the client was sitting upright, the spatula was hanging down, and gave a quick tug, the wax came out clean and our gentleman was happy. My dad still won't let me come near him with wax- he was my guinea pig for chest and back waxing- self taught since it wasn't popular then. I'm much better at waxing now than I was 20 years ago, I really wish he'd let me have another go-LOL!! (teach him for grounding me when I was an obnoxious teen!)

Hi there

Oooh my first post! I'm hoping to have many many more! I'm just starting college in September to do beauty and find this website really interesting and informative!

Looking at this thread about nasal waxing, my friend has a salon in Manchester that specialises in intimate waxing, and she has loads of men wanting rid of the nasal hair - some because it's just unsightly, but mostly hayfever sufferers!

She only does the few just inside the nostril, but it seems to work wonders, both aesthetically and to stop the irritation!:)

It reduces hayfever?! How weird is that?? I thought it would be the opposite, that the hairs would help filter out the irritants.

Yes, I always figured it would so I did a nostril wax on a client with chronic hayfever. She said that her nose was still a little runny but she didn't sneeze much. xx

My beautician friend waxes clients noses regularly............ she puts a cotton wool bud with wax on one end just on the edge of the nostril (not right up it) leaves it a minute to set and then pulls! I've never tried it but, clients seem very happy with it!

No tool should ever be inside a client's nostril at any time.

Please urge your friend to consider the wax-only technique: Ears and Nostrils here> Learning
